CZ 550 magnum 458 win mag/ 458 lott conversion

Does anyone know if the magazine of the 458WM is the same size of the 458 lott in the CZ 550 MAGNUM ?

Did i need some gunsmith work on feed ?

Or just re chambered for 458 lott

I think it is just rechambering. But some have had feeding problems. The mag box is the same.

All I will say is I was told by a good friend of mine who is in the English gun trade ,...don't try to rechamber a 458 to lott....big feeding issues....go with a 375 if you want to do it....and before anyone starts I am talking about the action in question

I have a CZ 550 Safari originally in 458 WIn converted to Lott.
It had feeding problems as a 458 Win even though it was a Matrix Engineering conversion. Go figure that...
The previous owner, a well known AH member, sent her back to Matrix and later to another well known CZ 550 smith but it still had a feeding issue.

I don't claim to be a gunsmith but admit to being Captain Obvious at times.
It was clear to me the rifle needed a stiffer magazine spring. I tried a Brownells extra strength spring but that was a waster on money.

My solution was to run double M98 magazine springs. Simple field expiediant solution!
I had it rechambered for Lott and removed the 458 Win magazine spacer.
She feeds 458 Win and Lott, even when mixed together!

I have a Brno 602 (basicaly same action as the CZ) which I had converted from 458 WM to 458 Lott. The original 458 WM had feeding issues. The Lott no where near as much. I believe a large percentage is caused by the follower. By swapping around a few 602 followers I had on hand I found one from a 300WM that fed the lott cases much better. I believe that back in the day, Mauser 98s tailored the follower to the specific cartridge. I suspect CZ just used a generic shape for most cartridges.
