Dangerous Game Hunters - Top Book Recommends?

Hi all, looking for a couple of good book recommendations that focus specifically on hunting dangerous game. Not so much safari experiences, travel tales, or hunting Africa in general, but books sharing genuine, personal experiences hunting dangerous game. The actual hunt, logistics, dangers, etc - whether memoirs or instructional.

I've just picked up a set of Jim Corbett's books - who else would you recommend?
As far as the actual hunting of dangerous game Col. Corbetts books are superb and very detailed. What could be more dangerous to hunt than man eating great cats in a dense cover environment. J.A. Hunters books are also wonderful.

Anything by Selous, Roosevelt's African Safari, Bell, Corbett,. . . are all great foundational books. If you start there, perhaps even in that order you will branch out into sub-specialty books. There are great books on buffs, leopards, lions, etc. Enjoy.

"MAHOHBOH" Ron Thomson. Elephants and elephant hunting in south central Africa

"NDLOVU" Richard Harland. The art of hunting the African Elephant

"NYATI" African Hunter Mag-Set Publications. The art of hunting the African Buffalo

These three books are IMO, must reads for the aspiring African hunting client.

Good luck

The Dangerous Game by Walter Prothero is newer and good reading. Finding a trade copy might be tough

I thought I had most of the good leopard books but was not aware of the Bosveld book. It's particularly interesting if he has a lot of info from the Waterbergs in SA. I couldn't find a copy in a book search and that website seems dead?

I can get you one. His son was in Minnesota a couple months ago and I know he left some copies with his taxidermist friend in a town, a couple hours away from me. I could pop down and grab some copies for people who are interested and I’d be happy to ship them out to you. He was asking $60 per book shipped. Since it’s a few hours away, I won’t be going back-and-forth easily, so if people are interested in the book, I can gather a list and then go and get the books. Once I have the books in my possession, whomever was interested can pay me and I will ship it out to them and then get all the proceeds minus the shipping costs to Bosveld (who is in RSA). Perhaps just PM me if you’re interested and then I would have a easy reference.

Check out Tony Sanchez-Arino.
He hunted hundreds of the Big Five from the 1950s to the 1990s - i would recommend "The Last of the Few" and "Claws and Fangs". He still writes books at age 95! But only in spanish...

Robin Hurt: "A Dangerous Game" - a very good and huge book. Experiences of Hurt and many other Professional Hunters after the Big Five and others...

John Kingsley-Heath: "Hunting the Dangerous Game of Africa" - Great book but hard to find and expensive nowadays...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
