Decent scope for .22?

Folks, I am buying a new Tikka .22 LR. I want to put a scope on it and have looked at Nikon and Leopold offerings. I would like find a scope with illuminated reticle like on my various Leopolds but have not had any luck. Any suggestions, illuminated or not?

Rick, most of my big game rifles have illuminated reticles which I love, but none of my 22LR, 22 Mag nor 17 HMR Rifles have them. I don’t know of a reasonably priced rim fire scope illuminated.
I mostly have Burris Droptine rimfire scopes on my rimfires. I am quite happy with them. I only wish they would up the power range particularly for the 17 HMR. 9x isn’t enough, IMO, for a 200 yard prairie rat shot.
If you need more power than 9x, you will need an adjustable objective to correct the parallax for rimfires.
I’ll be watching this for new ideas for myself.

I have tried different scopes on my .22lr and I have settled on a schmidt and bender 6x42. Nothing to adjust or play with, just point and shoot.

I like the Leupold FX I 4x for 22 RF. They are pre-set for zero parallax at 60 yds. I think Optics Planet has the matte finish one on sale for about 200.00

I own several scopes but none on a 22lr that are illuminated.
My current favorite is a discontinued Leupold FX-II 6x36 with the wide duplex.

I have an old VX 1 2x7 on a 22 it was the first Leupold I bought for a 7mm. The point is any old big game scope could be used with a 22 if you would be willing to forego the illumination

Just an FYI. From what I understand, the parallax on big game scopes is usually set at 125-150 yards, while on 22rf scopes usually 50-60 yards. Leupold will change the parallax on their big game scopes for a price.
This is why I like the adjustable parallax for longer range shooting.

Just purchased a Nikon .22 Rimfire scope, 4-12 power. Haven't had it out to the range yet but for the money, it's a decent scope. I have Burris Droptines on my .17 Rimfires and for the money, another good scope. Both can be found at reasonable prices on ebay and Midway. May be lower elsewhere but these are the best prices I've recently found.

I also have an old Leupold VXI 2-7X33. I wish someone would make a sensible, compact, rimfire scope with adjustable parallax. 1” tube please, and 40mm objective is just too big for a rimfire, IMHO.

Edit to my above post, I have the Burris Timberlines on my .17s. Check these out, they're about as small as you can get and still have parallax adjustment.

Hogpatrol, Im going to have to check that out for my 17HMR!

Just an FYI on the Timberline, at max power, the BDCs work for MOA of groundhog at 150 and 200 for 17HMR ammo out of a rifle or handgun. I've had mine for quite a while so don't know if they still put a ballistic stickers for the various rimfires in with the scope. Pic is of the one for the 17HMR.

Imo, a 22lr is a 50-60 yards cartridge on the range and the woods. A light weight 3-9x32 50 yard parallax is perfect. I recently bought a Sightron for my brother's new Ruger American 22 and he loves the scope

Lower magnification, I don't know of any that have a parallax adjustment. Most everything up to 9x and the Nikon I referenced have a fixed parallax.

The rifle should be here soon, so I am going to have to get serious. Thinking of either Nikon or Leopold, at this point, mainly cause they are available, and I can hold them in my hand and try the dials etc. before I buy. I have one Vortex, and like the scope, especially the mechanics. Very positive feeling adjustments. I have a Leica 2-10 with a luminated reticle on my 35 Whelen. It has the Euro #4 reticle with a centre dot which I Really love. The illumination on this scope is not great during legal shooting hours but shines in very dim light and at night. Wish scope manufacturers would come up with a Firedot scope for .22s .
