Discounted Late Season Namibian Leopard Hunt

No argument James.

With all due respect I know who the outfit is and they are good but, 18k in Namibia is still on the high side considering the other folks here who do a good job. I did my research on my hunt although I was unsuccessful due to the Weather conditions at the time . Adding to the fact that price this late to me is high. Just my opinion.

Cheap hunt? If you call paying 14-16k cheap to hunt I guess most of us don't belong here.

Johnny,

A good agent comes in and posts a legitimate offer with a good outfitter at a good price.

You come in behind him and take multiple dumps on his post.

If you don't care for his offer, why don't you leave the thread alone. If you want to talk about overpriced leopard hunts, start your own thread.

Not dumping on his post at all. Just stating an opinion. That's what we do here. So what your implying is if we don't agree we should just not comment? That would make for a boring forum. I've seen numerous threads here get extremely heated with varying opinions, why the big brother attitude? No disrespect intended sir.

@Royal27 maybe the outfitter saw he had a cash cow. I wonder if they have him a discount on the 4th hunt. Yikes.

I'd bet this was the case way before I'd bet that the guy got his leopard on trip three. All the hunts were within a year too.

How many unscrupulous outfitters with two leopard tags sell the hunt 6-8 times. The outfitter can obviously shoot only two leopards. The leopards are on bait every day with photos to prove it for weeks until the hunter shows up. The PH walks into the blind with the hunter right after telling his trackers in the local dialect to go 100 yards upwind of the bait and pee all over the place. Take a dump if you can.

Wonder why the leopard hit another bait that night.:sneaky:

We all have opinions. It is great to share them. We learn from others opinions. Disagreements certainly make a thread interesting. Where I have an issue is on offered hunts.

An individual is trying to make a living by posting a hunt. This is the livelihood for the individual posting offered hunts. Unless the operator is unscrupulous, why mess with the way he feeds his family.

I understand and agree, I for one would never intend to mess with someone's living. My opinion/ intentions I see were taken out of context. Im sure the hunt with this outfitter is outstanding because I nearly booked with him after speaking with James last year about a leopard hunt. All I'm saying is this late in the season it just seemed high, plain and simple.

18k for a leopard hunt in my book is well priced. Any leopard below 25k is a bargain. @Wheels , I have heard of stories of outfitters doing exactly what you say.

This outfitter has a really good rep! I did hear of someone who was unsuccessful but those are few and far between. Leopard is a tough one for sure. Hopefully someone can book and get a good cat.

In speaking with outfitters, I have found one I would trust at 15k, one I trust at 19, and couple right at 20, one I trust more at 23, and one I would not book with to save my life at 26. It all depends - money doesn't always buy quality but money also cant buy luck.

I think it is a good deal based on the refund if not taken. If and when I do a leopard hunt it is the kind of deal I will look for.

You want to start a thread going to hell just talk about the price and it will end up just like this one is. Then the cheap hunt stuff starts and all the rest of the bs.

Is it a great deal I would say no just seeing the ad but is it a good deal will yes it is. Then you find out who the ph is doing the hunt and it is a great hunt offer if you add up his success rate. Will he still do all the hard work the same as if it was a full price hunt. I don't know and neither does anyone else if your honest with yourself.

It to me just goes to show how most guys not all bs about there offers. This hunt during the main season goes for over 20,000 and most are told that is very low and he is not making much. Then low and behold when the season is running out it can be done for this. So is he losing money doing the hunt now. We all know the answer to that one.

Guys offer are just that and to be looked at by clients wanting to buy a hunt. Some may think it is great others not so much. I am not a fan on making bad comments on hunt offers but I do not see anyone really bashing this one. Did johnny need to comment on it no but he did not come out and say don't by the hunt just what he thought.

I just hope someone gets to go on the hunt take a great cat and get it back home.

@billc, Bill I really battled to understand your comments. Not sure what you trying to say. I could explain my Leopard deals step for step.

I have said it before and I'll say so again as politely as I can. This is an offer in the "Deals and Offers" section of AH. It was not meant to be a discussion of whether it is a good or bad offer. If you don't like the offer, don't buy it and move on. It was not meant to be a discussion of anything else either. If you want to discuss what a good or bad offer is, or the evils of making a good profit versus the virtue of making a few pennies, do so in another thread.

While I guess it's not an official rule of AH, I do believe it should be an unwritten one that on Hunt Offers the discussion be limited to questions regarding the offer in an effort in considering it.

Hmm.... At +2 did I overpay? Probably could have just done +1 in total and saved.... ;)

So, if I understand what your saying, it is okay for people to go on a "Deals and Offers" post by PP and criticize the pricing or the quality of the trophies, etc. just because it is what they thought?

You probably overpaid. Not sure if any of my comments deserve a +1. They are just the ramblings of a senile old fart trying to stay one step ahead of nurse Ratched!

@Wheels, as an outfitter I should rather keep my mouth shut, but I agree with your posts. I don't like to see any client being ripped off. One needs to compare apples with apples, I feel totally dejected when a client doesn't get his trophy, that it breaks my heart when I have to bill him.

Like I said I don't like seeing or would not post on any ones hunt offer.

People are acting like he is bad mouthing james or the outfitter when all he said was it is not a great deal for this late in the season. Not to sure that would stop anyone from booking this hunt if they want it. Is there truth to his statement will yes I have seen late season hunts go for less then this so I guess I don't have near the problem with it that others do.

Posting on a ad in a bad way or still talking all the bs of cheaper hunts is all the same to me. I don't like any of it as it helps no one in the end.

@billc you speaking bull@#*&!
