Well Bart, your Rooicat/Caracal looks like a bad choice of a taxidermist. The mount looks old and that's cuz it is a piss poor job, period!
I could pick it apart but that's not what you are looking for. As far as it being a old mount or your new mount?
1) feel the fur, is it sticky, dirty or dusty?
2) are there cracks in the ears, lips, eyes etc. I could not see any from the pics if it was tanned or dry preserved.
3) smell,
I feel sorry for you. Being in the field of taxidermy and what I hear and see about piss poor taxidermy not only in "Africa" but every where.
What else did this taxidermist do for you, send some of those pics to compare quality.
