Hi guys, hope everyone is doing good!
There is to much difference between DSC show and SCI show? The exhibitors are the same? If I have tonchoose one, wich one shoul I pick? Best regards and great hunts

There are any number of threads on this subject. I suggest you do a search to get even more inputs. That said, the outfitter list isn't exactly the same. There will be those who attend one but not the other, albeit I'd say most are at both if they are at either.

I personally find DSC to be more my style. I'd rather be around folks in boots and jeans than penguin suits generally speaking. But that's if I had to choose one over the other. Honestly they're both great shows and I enjoy them equally well. The big difference I'd say is the price of admission. DSC is pretty cheap and does not require membership. SCI is not so cheap for admission and regardless of the pass you buy, you must also be a member.

Both of these conventions are great, in different ways. Please try to attend at least one, if possible. Please encourage your friends to join, rejoin, and participate in such conservation organizations like SCI, DSC, RMEF, NWTF, etc.

Sustained-use wildlife conservation both domestically and internationally counts on such groups and their members. If we don’t advocate for wildlife, then the anti-hunters will. Every person and activity counts. Happy hunting, TheGrayRider a/k/a Tom.

Depends what you like or want from the experience. DSC has grown to be the bigger show. Of course it has a lot of Texas stuff, deer stands, fire pits, local hunt offerings. A whole large section upstairs mostly dedicated to guns, scopes, custom stocks, ammo, etc. The AH DSC dinner has grown and is an event @Just Gina and I look forward to every year! But we also had a grear time at the very nice meet and greet dinner during SCI in Nashville this year! In fact we had never been to Nashville before so showed up a few days early and went to the Grand Ol Oprey and enjoyed bar hopping down town. Unique with some very good wanna be up and commer musicians playing in many places.

Not sure how the move to Atlanta will be for DSC but I'm sure we will all make the best of it. I'm sure they will lose many locals who drive in for the day but probably gain a few from a new region.

Just attend both;)

I'm still a newbie when it comes to attending these conventions. I've been to one DSC (2022) and two SCI (2022-23) conventions.

Beyond the cost differential, the vibe is just different between the two. I'd say that DSC is friendlier, more laid back, and more open. I really enjoyed seeing groups of school kids there as they are the future of hunting and conservation. SCI is more about business but I'd saying switching to Nashville from Las Vegas did make it friendlier. I did see whole families this year at SCI which seemed to be missing from it in 2022 in Vegas.

I'm with @ActionBob, attend both if you can. If not, is one or the other within driving distance for you?

DSC occurs first. If you wish to book a hunt or order a rifle then go to DSC. An example, Rigby sold out of their first run of their new double rifles at DSC.

From what I could tell…SCI if you’re interested in world wide, DSC for Africa, and WHE for North America. That’s what I noticed when it comes to hunting conventions. But There’s always exceptions to every thing

3 of us where thinking the same which place, SCI in Nashville is $100+ admission per day
I am doing San Antonio & dallas because I like a laid back atmosphere
doing sheep show also

I've been to both as well and like the others have said, they are both good....just in slightly different ways. Most of the outfitters seem to be at both. I kind of feel like DSC is more "homey" if that makes any sense. Either way, I love going to both because once you start going and knowing people, they are like big reunions to meet up with old friends. You will enjoy whichever one you choose. Have fun! IMO the DSC is the better show. Not quite as crowded. Mostly the same outfitters exhibit there. The DSCs conservation work is also inspiring. SCI is fun too….and Nashville is hands down a better venue. If I could, I’d attend both. Nashville is a 4 hour drive for me so I’ll be there in Jan.

What does everyone think about the DSC move to Atlanta while KBH is being remodeled? I thought Nashville would have been a better option (or Fort Worth) but then again I don't attend monthly meetings as it would be a 3 hr drive. I am told by someone who volunteers regularly with DSC that Atlanta was best option.

Are you telling us or asking? If I had tonchoose, I'd go SCI, because it's larger, in a centralized location (now), a more family-friendly forum, and features more worldwide hunting opportunities. I love TX. Been there, done that. Less "border" issues in Nashville! ;) How long have you been in America?

I agree with @ActionBob! Each is different and if you go to both, you will get to see which is your favorite. We have a great time at both!
I am curious how moving to Atlanta temporarily will be for DSC. I will say I am not keen on the idea.
If you can, try to attend both. DSC is not nearly as expensive. You can also buy passes just for the day. Super convenient!
If I had to pick, I would go with DSC. Not that I do not enjoy SCI, because I do. Just bigger and more to see at DSC in my opinion.
One of the outfitters said something about the breakfast meeting room for the outfitters at DSC is bigger than the area for the entire SCI convention…

DSC is the only one I have attended because I live in Dallas. With that said, I think Nashville would definitely be a more fun atmosphere. Dallas is very laid back.

You're from TX. Any bias in what you write? Rhetorical. No answers necess. All my TX friends say the same thing. And, being from Dallas or Houston is not really representative of the rest of TX. Having two major cities bookending my state, I know too much about it and live 5 hrs from both!!!

@C.W. Richter
Rhetorical or not you are getting a reply.
I am not “from” Texas but do now live in TX, so no bias in my opinion that I gave. I never lived in TX when I attended any past shows for DSC or SCI. And I do not live in Dallas or Houston, thanks. I am several hours from both. You do not have to be so spikey. Sounds like you are the biased one.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
