This past November I used my Christensen Arms Ridgeline in 28 Nosler on a 6x6 elk in Idaho. Has a Huskemaw 5x25x50 Blue Diamond scope, shooting factory 160 grain Accubonds. Worked great. Previous rifle was a Browning A-bolt in 300WM with a Vortex Viper 5x25x50 scope, shooting 200 grain Nosler Partitions. Any of the 7mm or 30 caliber magnums will get it done on elk.

My go to rifle is a 8mm Rem Mag. It’s better than any .30 cal, in my opinion, under 600yds and is almost as good as a 340Wby. In fact I would have a 340Wby if I didn't already have a 8mm Rem Mag. The only downside with a 8mm Rem mag is, it is pretty much a hand loader's cartridge. But man it packs a punch.

Just bought a 325 WSM Winchester Model 70 in stainless steel and Bell & Carlson stock. Picked up some 198 grain Hammer bullets to load for it.

What bullets are you shooting in your 8 Rem Mag?

Seem to always be hunting elk in short range situation my go to elk rifle caliber since 1990 is a model 70 35 whelen AI, black stock,sworski glass 225 gr. bullets sub. minute past 200 yds. close to 3000 fps

If after elk, I generally grab my Tikka T3 in 270 Win shooting 140 gr accubonds or 140 Trophy bonded tips, or one of my Rem 700 280 Rem’s shooting 145 gr LRX or 150 Partitions. We hunt mostly in semi open or canyon country, and occasionally still hunt moderately open woods. Shots vary from bow range to about 400 yards.

What bullets are you shooting in your 8 Rem Mag?

In the beginnig I shot 220gr SGK and got around 2900fps. Then I used 200gr TSX at around 3070fps. The past couple of years I’ve been using 198gr Hunter Hammers. My best accuracy has been around 3025-3050fps. All of them have worked well.
