Short shorts I would imagine serve multiple purposes, quieter when moving through brush as your skin is silent, cooler, lets a little draft in on the boys if you know what I mean. I have a couple pair, I wouldn't wear them walking around in the US, but they are great for africa

Interesting video. But I do think shorts well predated the bush war. Bell talks about wearing them because they are quieter in his Karamojo Safari book. And of course they were quite common in the British colonial army. As were kilts for the Scottish units.

Yes, but short shorts do not rub on the top of the thighs at every step which as the end of a long day contributes meaningfully to leg fatigue. Never mind when long shorts are wet and do not slide on the thighs...

Weren’t short shorts pretty much the norm everywhere years ago? Seems like the US is about the only place that left them behind. That said, it seems like the trend is moving back that direction in recent years

Look at the young kids they are back with vengeance. Lots of guys I see with 5 inch shirts or even shorter.
