Posting my Dakota model 10 7x57 used on one recent safari in Sept/Oct. Gun is in excellent condition and was only hunted for 2 weeks taking kudu, huge duiker, 12 impala (mostly head shots...this gun is accurate) while looking for that big leopard. I'm including the high resolution photos from the dealer I bought it from new. Includes the Talley rings but not the scope. This rifle is beautiful and accurate! Target photo is 5 shots at 100 yards along with some game photos that came under its spell. $9800 plus shipping. Only shot about 50 times in total.

Just SOOO ELEGANT!!!

Between this rifle and the Sterling Davenport 500 Jeffery listed elsewhere in the classifieds, a combination could be had to hunt anything, anywhere in the world with maximum style points! I mean, who NEEDS a double rifle with these two beauties. I’m tempted to sell off a bunch of gorgeous rifles and shotguns to snap these two up!

Amazing.

Both of these guns handle really well...the 7x57 is like a live bird gun...just so effortless and alive in the hands. The 500J feels like power, which it IS of course. They just have personalities almost. The word is purposeful...they both are built to execute to a certain purpose. Beautiful guns.

Gorgeous, and that 500J as well! I am slobbering over the photo of the two case hardened rifles together. And that 5 shot group!! GLWS!
Now the 2 rifles photo and the target photo are the 7x57 and 416 Rigby Dakota rifles together that were on my last safari...not the 500J. That 416 is a freaking laser beam. The PHs called it the Rigby hand brake.

That photo has been an inspiration! I’ve recently acquired the same Dakota duo in 275 Rigby and 416 Rigby with the help of @rookhawk and @Red Leg. Now I just need to see how they shoot, hopefully as good as yours!View attachment 578380
Excellent! That covers literally everything on the planet and looks good while doing so! I highly recommend trying the NF cupped point bullets in the 416 if you need a solid.

Thanks for the recommendation! I've got federal ammo with the Barnes TSX and the Sledgehammer solids for the 416. I'm planning to have Lance Hendershot load me some 150gr Barnes TTSX or 160gr Swift A-Frames (if available) for the 7x57. I've been using the 168gr TTSX 30-06 to excellent effect on whitetail. Can't wait to get to Africa for the first time!

I had Lance Hendershot load the Oryx bullets (156 or 158) for the safari and had great results. It's plenty accurate but also had great results on game. I only recovered one bullet on something like 16 animals.

Gorgeous Model 10, is that Bastogne walnut?

Good question. It's factory wood although upgraded. I don't know for sure.

That 7x57 is just a classy elegant little rifle!

Agree… wonderful caliber… light recoil… excellent BC… suitable for lightweight, easy to carry rifles… capable of taking almost everything I enjoy hunting…

And that’s a beautiful little platform it’s on…

Thanks Dave. I don't need to sell it so it's no problem if it stays! Looking forward to your home event this week!

When was it made?

It was bought brand new in August and used on the hunt in Sept/Oct only. It was new stock for the dealer so it was recent production.

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
