Finding the one gun

Like other members here your opinion is worth far more than two cents. I'm still debating if and if I do what pattern.
I think a nice 29-24 lpi old time pattern would be nice. Don't want any of this fancy skipline or fleur de lis. That would be to much
Bob
Bob I agree, keep it simple but elegant.

I appreciate that.

Definitely simple fine line checkering. It will still allow the dark grain to shine through if done right.

Regardless, that's a cool rifle. Cool caliber as well. I need to own a single shot.
@CJW
My gunsmith said an old english wrap around borderless 20 or 22 lpi would look good and give good grip whereas the 24lpi may be to fine and the diamonds would flatten quicker over time.
I think the forend need to be slimmer and a border each side but he thinks a nice wrap around check.
Thought from all appreciated

Yeah the 24 would wear a lot quicker. Definitely borderless I think.

Do you mean slimming the entire forend? Like in removing wood? Either way I would do a full wrap. Very classy.

Dare I say that you might like it with just the wrist checkered? Especially if you slim the forend.

For the Aussies here, what rings are you running on your Highland Stalker?
Hexalock are pretty high and possibly set the scope too far forward
Recknagel mixed reviews
EAW seem to be the pick but $$$

This is what I have on mine. Seems to work fine for me..

@NIGHTHAWK , there is nothing wrong with a .243, power to you for standing by your choice.

I have only seen one Blaser in the flesh. It had a nice timber stock. They can look quite nice in the right configuration. Just a modern twist on a sporting rifle.

I would like a nice bolt action classic rifle but the Blaser is expensive by my standards making the Rigby seem bloody expensive.

Poking fun at a Blaser is like poking fun at Bob. Nobody takes them seriously.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
