Atta boy! I will be in the reserve on Aug 10-21. My focus is on 2 buffalo and also have availability for hippo, wildebeest, hartebeest, waterbuck, zebra, warthog, impala and duiker I believe. How bout you?
+1 Sea Cliff HotelI will say I have stayed at both the Sea Cliff and Blue Sapphire and without question the Sea Cliff is an amazing place to stay. The Blue Sapphire was fine for me with a super late arrival into Dar and early morning charter out of terminal 1. With the Sea Cliff being on the Indian Ocean and in a beautiful part of the city it is absolutely wonderful. Cannot speak to downtown Dar and will be interested to hear what others say, but I look forward to my Sea Cliff G&T and stay every year!
I would be very careful if you fly Qatar as they are constantly changing who operates routes and to your point, if switched to Oman, they will not transport your rifle and you are stuck. Air France has been my personal favorite to Dar with KLM in a short second. Up until this year I had a direct to Paris where I live so I could get to Dar with 1 connection, they recently changed that so I have to shop a bit now.@Slickshooter What airlines are you flying ? Game trackers is telling me twice last year Qatar changed plans to Oman Air and they refused to take rifles. I have ways flied with Qatar with no issues.
Thanks for the heads up on the ferry as I've read about it existing as well as the sister hotel. We are actually already booked in and staying at a resort in Zanzibar for 5 days post safari. The Sea Cliff Hotel has a sister hotel in Zanzibar just outside of Stone Town that is absolutely stunning. If you have an extra couple of days (before/after the hunt) it's worth the trip. It eclipses the Dar es Salam hotel.
Most people fly there but I wanted to experience the ferry. It leaves throughout the day and there are multiple status for tickets. I would purchase the the second or third highest price seats. They also use a seperate building in the terminal and it makes a huge difference in the experience. Fair warning, I was told flying is the best and its really not that expensive. Good to know for the future.I would be very careful if you fly Qatar as they are constantly changing who operates routes and to your point, if switched to Oman, they will not transport your rifle and you are stuck. Boy sounds like the traffic is really something lol. Yep, we have a charter flight into the reserveFolks are down playing how bad the traffic is! it is breath takingly horrendous. If you can catch a charter flight to your preserve, it is well worth the money.
