For Sale.
Blaser R8 Pro Safari 458 Lott. Unfired.
23” Selous Barrel, with banded front sight and v notch rear sight. Also has a banded sling attachment point on the barrel.
Weight 8lbs 4oz
Everything in pristine condition. Stock, bolt and barrel are all new and unfired. I’ve cycled a few rounds through it just to check feeding, but have not fired it. This is the aluminum stock receiver, so a kick stop can be added to bring the overall weight up, if desired. However, I feel that the weight is perfect once a scope is mounted.

$6500.00 plus shipping.

No Sales To California.

I looked a little closer at what I have in this rifle, so I’m willing to go down a bit on the price, if someone is interested. I can do $6000.00 plus shipping if it helps.

Just sell me the barrel sometime when you get tired of it.

How is the recoil of this gun? lol
I haven’t fired this one. But my other R8 458 Win Mag is actually not bad at all. I shoot 450gr bullets at around 2250 fps. I know the Lott could be loaded hotter than that, but I don’t really see a need. In fact, if I do end up keeping the Lott in lieu of the Win Mag, I’ll still load it to the same level, with the same bullets.

That's a great formula...bit faster than the classic double recipe of 2150fps and with today's bullets, even better but without stressing the gun or shooter. As with many things, you can go harder but with diminishing returns. I need to use my 458s more. Like you said, more guns than hunts to take them on.

Yes, for sure. If a 450gr at 2250 will penetrate a buffalo lengthwise, and shoot completely through both shoulders of a bull elephant, what’s the need in shooting a 500gr at 2300? Just more recoil with no real upside.

Trying to be a bridge between Eastern and Western schools of conservation.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
