Thanks for the offers but at this time I’m trying to reduce my collection so looking for a cash deal.

Wow...great deal. I don't think it can last long.

@TOBY458 I am certainly not one to talk in terms of how I go through DRs but will we see this beauty when you hunt with us in Zim in August
No sir. I've already got the R8 on my paperwork and ready to go. This Rigby is definitely a nice rifle and a great deal, but I would have to have it in DSB for easy scope mounting.

Please forgive my ignorance…how do you mount a scope on a single bridge please? Why is it so hard and expensive?

The easiest would be send it to JJ or Todd Ramirez. They would know what works best with it. Mama's London Best has an original Oberndorf action and it has H&H mounts. I am sure there are numerous solutions for the SSB: Talley, Recknagel, H&H and EAW. A scope mount and safety conversion, you would still be in this well below the price of a new one.

Safe shooting

Step one: Mill the single square bridge to serve as a base for the first claw ring.

Step two: Affix a single claw side mount on the left side of the action.

If you need to visualize this, refer to a Mannlicher Schoenaur claw mount (But reversed). Put another way, instead of a normal claw mount with “4 claws” on a SSB one claw mount has the normal two, the other is an offset scope ring sweeping left of the action with only one claw.

It’s a $3000-$3500 job. Otherwise, your conventional scope mount will obstruct the functionality of the iron sights.

Thanks @rookhawk! Always so respect and greatly appreciate your expertise! Sounds like a job for JJ

You have that nice flat area on the barrel ahead of the receiver ring, which I believe was intended for a scope mount. It appears to be about the same height as the square bridge., slightly higher than the receiver ring. You could dovetail it without threatening the receiver strength and the inscription on the ring would be preserved.
Typical Rigby.

Was sorely tempted, and my DG days are over! Glad it sold...I might have gotten myself in trouble with two medium bore purchases in a month!

You’re far too young to stop chasing buffalo!
