I’m looking for a suggestions of operators to investigate for a free range hunt in South Africa to take my family. I fully understand there are lots of amazing operators with amazing places on huge tracts of land with high fence that “you’ll never see the fence” and the animals are totally wild. I get all that and that’s not what I’m looking for.

I also understand that most free range places have a low fence and certain species will not jump, go under, or through said fence. This is not of issue for many of the species we want.

And finally this is not a debate on good bad or otherwise of high fence in Africa. I care not what others do. I’m trying to sort out a hunt that will be what I prefer.

Crusader is currently on my list of operators to consider…if you have a suggestion please comment below. Thanks very much.

What region and species are you looking for? I’d look into hunting eastern cape. A two part hunt with some mountain hunting and coastal hunting should give you a good experience. I was very impressed talking with crusader safaris about their areas, however I think their advantage is if you’d like to see multiple areas in different parts of South Africa on the same hunt. If you’d like to stay in one region like eastern cape I think I’d search out a different outfitter for better pricing depending what your goals are.

Check out Tyityaba hunting safaris in the eastern cape. Vic and Karl have been in game for quite some time I have hunted with them a few times.

Check Nick Bowker Safaris. Some species are high fence however but check on your list. Sponsor here.

Good evening Rakman,

My name is Joe Cooper, I am an outfitter in South Africa and my main lodge is located in the eastern cape, about an hour or so north of Port Elizabeth.

My property is high fenced, but I do have hunting privileges on multiple concessions near my lodge that are low fenced.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out, I'd be happy to discuss.

Dear Rakman we would be delighted to assist you with your hunt. We have over 40 000 hectares of free range farms with low fences that we hunt on in the Northen cape home to some of the largest concentration of free range Kudu. that being said we have numerous other species like Black wildebeest , Redhartbeest ,impala and springbuck roaming these properties too. Ill send you a dm.

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
