GAITERS!

Yeah, very "authentic" ... almost. Good luck keeping those extra short slippery rope-twist nylon laces tied! Pfft. Expect to be bending over a lot retying them. Loose gaiters = useless gaiters. For Stewart Granger "authentic" they should be leather laces. But hey, those glittering golden laces sure look pretty.

Fifty bucks plus postage and handling. From UK to North America what would that be? Another fifty bucks? But for a hundred bucks I'd have something with Rigby name on it (hopefully ... somewhere). I may not be able to afford one of their bespoke rifles but a pair of their gaiters won't break anyone's bank account. I bet they sell like hotcakes!

My only experience is the Eastern Cape so I am sure things are different in different places. My first trip I took some KUIU gaiters. I never wore them. I had my pants tucked in my boots and had zero issues. The one day I tried to wear shorts (because it was hot) my lower legs got shredded.

I usally wear long pants, but still use gaiters, just tell your outfitter to provide some kamaste !

Use these ....get them when at sci every couple of years...got 2 pairs last year so sorted for a while....

I use both, leather from African Sporting Creations and canvas/nylon from African Hunt Products. I wear them if hunting in shorts and mostly here in the south during dove season.

If you are in Namibia a company called Save Your Socks make excellent leather gaiters. They have a Facebook page. You can order from them in advance and have them delivered for a small charge to wherever you are hunting. They are small money relatively. Mine have lasted several trips and I wear them here to stop cr#p getting into my boots.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
