Genuinely hate this but opportunity knocks (Lefty Heym .416 Rigby UNFIRED)

It's estimated that 10–15% of shooters are left-handed.

Such a narrow market with left hand rifles. I looked for almost a year and settled for a great rifle, but not exactly what I was wanting in caliber. But much nicer than I thought I could get for the money. As soon as I bought it, several LH rifles came on that I would have been happy with. Not saying I’m unhappy, because I got a great deal on a 98% rifle that was spec built for the original buyer/owner I ultimately bought it from and it came with a lot of ammo and brass… *It was consigned to Champlin Firearms and listed on another gun sales siite.

Hopefully a lefty on AH in need will see this beautiful rifle, buy it, and take it on Safari!

Dear lefties. On every thread, every ad, whatever is being peddled, you always post "boy its nice, if it was a Lefty I'd buy it in a heartbeat!".

Yet here we are, again. 100% of the time, lefty stuff languishes on the forum. It's a lovely gun, but for whatever reason, that left hand can never seem to reach into the left back pocket to pull out a wallet.

It would take you two years waiting and a lot more money to order a lefty gun like this, and here it is on a silver patter for instant gratification.

Perhaps the issue is not with lefties, but with the fact that its $10K-$12K for a rifle. Thats a lot of money to drop all at once. Especially since back in the day you could get a new LH CZ 550 for less than $2K, and you can still buy a LH Model 70 or a LH Sako in 375 H&H used for that now. Perhaps the sticker shock is real. Many lefties such as myself have also become discouraged and given up after years of searching. If you go on Gunbroker right now, there are almost zero options (other than a Blaser, which I do not prefer) for large bore LH firearms. Right now you have the option of an overpriced .460 Wby, or an overpriced Model 70 in 416 Rem. Then you have three options in 375 H&H. For a grand total of 5, wow, lucky us left handers.

Where be all the big bore LH rifles in the $4-7K price range?...oh that's right they don't exist anymore. I'd buy one of those 375's, but I just bought a LH A-Square in .375 Wby a few weeks ago, so I'm not sure a need another 375 so soon...but maybe I do?

Amen brother! We lefties know that with practice, can operate a right-handed rifle just as proficiently as a righty, but why do we have to make do with work arounds? Until Savage Arms decides to produce one of their platforms in a DG caliber, we have to be content to purchase custom receivers made for the .40 and up calibers, we're stuck with the work-arounds.

There's discussion on this forum of a RH CZ550 416 Rigby -- possible prices listed? 14 to $1500 possibly as high as $2500 --- yes the CZ is not a Heym, but it's 1/4 the price to get into a Big Bore. Not many can keep 10 large just sitting for years in a DG rifle fund. my .02

Some people drive Chevy and some people drive a Porsche.
...and while it may not be true in this particular case, some of us are forced to wait years to pay Porsche prices for a Chevy.

It just seems to be the eb and flow of the south paw market.....

You see a fabulous rifle for sale, followed by the downpour of "If only it were lefty!" posts and then a fine left handed rifle gets posted for sale and...... crickets!

I think it's pre-election jitters. Nobody seems to be spending money.

I have tried to buy a LH Heym several months ago and the seller decided not to let it go. When I saw this Heym LH 416; I started to drool . Heym only made 6 of these and said they will never make anymore. I was so fortunate to work out a deal with Garrett. He seems like a very nice man and if he sells you anything you can take it to be bank he is honest..

Did they only make 6 in LH .416 Rigby, or 6 LH total in all big bore calibers for this rifle? I thought they still made LH rifles?

Chris Sells told me he thought they only made 6 LH 416 in the Express
