Good Afternoon

I have been a "pirate viewer" for many years of this forum. I convinced myself for a very long time that Big game hunting and conservation was in my past, however I have been fortunate to accomplish @Skollie on his Buffalo hunt last week. This has reignited a love I had as a 17 year old boy.

I am from South Africa, but I spend any free time on my farm/ reserve in Namibia that I want to restore to a natural system for plains game and floral species.

I was fortunate to spent all my vacations form 14-21 years of age in Namibia working for an amazing mentor. I then decided to not follow my dream to become a PH and ended up studying Nature Conservation and working for SANparks.

My time at SANparks did not provide me with the feeling and success I wanted to see in conservation. As any "wise" 21year old I was looking for immediate answers and solutions. My PH career also went south, I felt that every animal and hunt needed to be "explained" or legitimated to the world.

I was tiring myself out.

Today I realise we are all different. Just like I hate going to a mall or standing in Q's to see a live sports game, other people do not enjoy hunting. To each their own.

Welcome, always enjoy the knowledge shared and perspective of our hunting brethren living in Africa.

:S Welcome:

Good day! Welcome!

G’day from Australia

G’day from Australia
Right on mate!!! I lived in FNQ and Brisbane for a year. Took my furniture on holiday........or known as a failed immigration attempt.

Loved Australia and the freedom and vast traveling opportunities. I took 15 days and did Brisbane- interior Queensland - Cape York- Kurumba- down to Mt Isa accross the Plenty highway to Alice Springs and the crossed the Simpson solo and back to Brisbane.

I have some Aussie mates coming over during Desember cannot wait to treat them.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
