Good Gun Deals This Week

Not too much faith in this stores gun library. Pretty easy to see is an Arisaka, and likely a type 99 heavily bubba'd.
Worked in a Gun Library for a while. The firearm has to be entered into their system as it is marked. No specific markings, it goes in as 'unknown'. Thus though it is an Arisaka it is not marked that way and the caliber is not marked on it either so 'unknown'.
I was 'chewed out' for entering a Swiss K-31 as such with the 7.5x55 as the caliber.

You can use this to your advantage if you know what it is as sometimes the workers don't.

That does make sense for limited systems. That said, in this day and age you may as well get the proper code for a description on the site listing or add it in manually if possible. System ignornace or personnel, albeit neither is acceptable in today's ecomm listings.

Your point on getting a deal out of it is worth noting if this is BPS policy and deals to be had at their expense.

The problem is the markings on the firearm may or may not be correct. For example that Arisaka might have been captured and brought back by 'Uncle Joe' who then "bubba'd it" and had it rechambered without marking it. If Cabela's lists it as an Arisaka in caliber 7.7x58 when it is not they then have the liability when the purchaser tries a 7.7x58 round in it.

Agreed, but at very least list it at the correct manufacturer and model and mark it caliber unknown and sold as is.

Or, don't buy it and retail it if you can't properly state what it is. At very least don't list it online.

Either way, poor form from this store.

And when they purchase a firearm from the original seller, how do they know what to value it at for the sale if nobody knows for sure what it is? They had one "unknown" bolt action rifle going for $1200 but it looked like an average Mauser actioned rifle to me in a .30 something caliber with no markings. How did they get the $1200 price in the first place? Very unusual.

I saw a Ruger No. 1 in 375 H&H for 1799 at my local Cabelas in Union Gap Washington. It was in pretty good shape. The main reason I am putting it here is because that store doesn’t list their used inventory on the website and I thought it was a reasonable price.

Kind of an out of the way website, but the $3800 ask is for a .416 RSM, 100 rounds of Nosler Trophy Grade, and a NIB Zeiss Conquest 1-4x24 scope. Rifle has been for sale for at least three months, so the seller might be willing to accept a little less. It's a bit of a hassle to register and get permissions to post, but that's a pretty good bargain, IMO. Somebody just sold a .416 Ruger RSM for $2900, sans mounts, optic, and ammo on our own classifieds section.

Not familiar with that caliber and action brand. Is that a .505 gibbs necked up to .510? Anyone know of the quality of the bbk action for a DG rifle?

Looks like one hell of a deal. I don't know anything about the whole .510 chamber in a .505 gibbs rifle (that does seem odd), but seems like a steal if that's not going to f-things up.

I've heard of a 510 Wells. That was a 505 gibbs cartridge in every way but with the 5 thousanths bigger diameter .510 bullets. This sounds like that. The Bauska action is like a CZ 550 copy but the bolt diameter is .730" instead of .700". That made it desirable for building 505 Gibbs rifles. GMA large magnum bolts are .750". It also already had a Winchester model 70 type safety and I think a Timney trigger or one similar. Investment cast action from what I read.

Thank you for the information, it is helpful.

Only problem I envision is some countries limit you to .500 or below.

The crazier part is that gun was originally listed for $1449. There aren’t any CZ550s not marked up to $2-3k though.

Yup I saw that and tried to get them to honor the prior price the next day. I had screen caps and everything. They told me I should choose a gun I could afford as though that was the point. For the money, I think the Winchester is going to be a much more polished rifle so I'm aiming for one of those. Plus I'll try and remake the Wiebe Xtra-Round-Magazine once I get a few more dimensions when I have the WinSafari in hand. I'll have to dust off my autocad skills.

I would be very careful. This was listed on GunsAmerica as well. I asked a couple of questions and the response Ii received was "owners manual is included"

They have or had an add with a MRC 1999 that I was curious about. I emailed them asking a specific question about it and if they had more pictures. Their response was a just link to the existing add.
All of these are typical of the bs encountered trying to deal with guns.com and why I just move on when I come across a listing from them. This outfit might be a legit company, but with the (lack of) customer service they've demonstrated over and over, I'll do business elsewhere.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
