Guns for Hurricane Relief

The payment for the 10 gauge arrived yesterday and the full donation of $900 has been made!

It was donated through the site @mdwest put up so perhaps he can verify. A receipt was also shared with the buyer and source of the cash to make the donation. @Ridge Runner And the best part is he made arrangements to pick the gun up in person so we get to meet him!

Thanks everyone! And especially @mdwest and @Ridge Runner

On to the next one!

I confirm receipt of funds from @Just Gina and @ActionBob .. thanks guys! We raised a little more than $11,600 for Hurricane Relief.. a pretty good chunk of that came from AH members... it is much appreciated!

FWIW our COO lives right in the path of where the majority of damage was done (right on the VA/NC border)... and the CEO of a firm that we do a lot of business with lives just a few miles outside of Asheville.. we've been getting a lot of first hand information from these two guys plus a team of former Army SF guys from around the Ft. Bragg area that have been moving through the area helping with relief efforts... The amount of devastation is just unfathomable... thankfully everyone is reporting that the worst of it all is now over.. there are still places dealing with intermittent power.. still places with no clean water available.. still places where roadways arent fully navigable, etc.. but there are now at least systems in place to reliably get water to those in need, keep power running at least enough to keep freezers from defrosting and homes cooled/heated, etc (winter is on the way), etc..etc.. and the communities are coming together daily still working on clean up efforts, making sure everyone has whatever it is they need to carry on, etc..

I just hung up with our COO less than 15 minutes ago.. for those old enough to remember what he is describing, he said he felt like the Indian that was crying in the anti-pollution commercials from the 1970's.. he had just gone down to the banks of the New River (his property is on the river) and was moved to extreme emotion looking at the damage.. the river has literally re-routed, and left a huge pile of rocks, debris, rubble, old tired, etc in an area that used to be a 25 acre meadow on the rivers edge.. its going to take years to restore what just a month ago was one of the most beautiful vistas in that part of the country..

Needs a double emoji.

Like: for the amount of the current donations received.

Sad: for the amount of damage needs repaired and debris still having to be cleared and cleaned up.

@Just Gina mentioned she saw some info on Samaritans Purse and that they were amongst the first ti get into North Carolina. Then @mdwest did his announcement and we took that as further confirmation. So now with your note as well, it sure looks like a good place to send donations.

Now we just need to get these sold and see if we can find another to put up;)
As a resident of western North Carolina, I can assure you that Samaritan's Purse was one of the first on the scene. Their HQ is actually in the area (Boone) and they have been helping residents since the day after Helene passed.
