Hankering for an R8

So I’m a bit overwhelmed with the scope mounting options. I’ve read through the posts by @One Day... but couldn’t find what I was looking for.
What is the lightest ring mount or base/ring set for a Blaser?
I don’t know about lightest but I just use the OEM Blaser saddle mount and rings. Rock solid, easy to remove and return to zero. I would have gone with the rail mount but the scopes I used don’t have a rail model

I have just switched over to the R8 system. Jaeger and grs stock. 6.5prc, 30/06, 338 lapua, 375 ruger, 416 ruger. All but the lapua at 20.5” with a reflex suppressor that adds 5.5”. Will carry like a 23” rifle suppressed.

Just do it! And if you don’t like it sell it and buy something else….

Yup, you will not find anyone around here saying “nah you don’t need another gun” :ROFLMAO:
I don't think I've read about anyone selling their Blaser because they don't like it
The converts are sold on them and seem suitably impressed.
I see the value or more so the benefit to those who travel with multiple barrels.

A Blaser scope mount 1" weighs 6.7 Oz. and a Blaser scope mount 30 mm weighs 7.1 Oz. I am not sure that there is much weight saving to be had in regard to them. The only option would be aluminum, but I am not aware of anyone making one.

Beware of mount height when selecting your scope. I also wrote something on that, which may prove useful to you :)

Scope height is important as the mid-height saddle mount is tough to find. I needed such a mount and ended up buying the saddle base only and adding some Tier one tactical 30mm rings to it. Worked perfectly.

Well, owning a R93, I have to admit, that I haven't shot that rifle for over a year.

I don't know why but using old Mauser Rifles and Custom Rifles based on a Dumoulin Mauser action are more convenient for me...

Blaser rifles are pretty nice, but very expensive too compared to other manufacturers. E.g. Heym or Roessler or Sauer...

Osuma made aluminum mount is around 3.7 ounces.

I’m pretty sure the Innomount 30mm I have is about an ounce lighter then Blaser oem.

Not sure on the weight of Contessa made products.

Made a good deal on some MAK branded mounts and had a high ring milled off so scope would just clear on one base. At the time that was the most practical solution.

That should say 6.5cm because some 6.5 shooters might want to hide their identity.

I'm likely to shell out for a Blaser before buying a 6.5cm on principal because I've bagged it too much.
I had a 6.5x65 RWS in a Blaser barrel, it was a great deer rifle and amazingly accurate.

So, I have found that top dog global has made carbon fiber furniture sets for the jaeger receiver and Christensen Europe did as well. If anyone has a line on one of these in the USA or could ship from EU/GB/Africa I would be interested. Top Dog Guns Global is unsure if they can get another carbon fiber set. I despise thumbhole stocks so the Blaser carbon fiber is out of the question. I have looked at a few of the makers like raven, but like the looks and price of the TDGG and Christensen furniture sets better.

Colorado, I shot my first Blaser S2 last Saturday and the those holes look exactly like the bullet holes it left at 50 yards. Perfect regulation.

That is what happened to me. Purchased one with 2 barrels now I have 3 R8s. (Will have 3 full R8s once my barrel from Palehorse Zero comes in). 458LOTT, 375h&h, and 7PRC.

Just to throw my two cents in of this subject. I am also a lefty and refuse early on to buy right handed rifles. I have a Sauer 404 in 6.5, 300 win mag and 404 J. I have a suppressor on my 6.5 and 300 win mag. I love the suppressor and can kick myself not getting it sooner. The Blasser R8 is a great gun but holding both I liked the feel of the Sauer.
I am looking to sell my Sauer 404 barrel and bolt hold and magazine in 404 Jeffrey only for a 375.

Nice assortment of chambering should cover the bases with a hot 7mm for hunting and a.458lott for stopping I guess the .375H&H is just because it's a classic cartridge that sits between and is versatile.

The 375h&h is a jack of all, I'm not hung up of the classic cartridges, if it works I'll use it. That and no one has made a 375CM yet hahaha.

So, current I’m on a kick for a short lightweight rifle for use with a suppressor in 30-06. In looking for this rifle two totally different packages came to mind. A tikka T3x veil wideland and Blaser R8. There is one problem… I’m left handed and refuse to bow to the “just reach over the top” crowd. The t3x veil wideland in 30-06 20” barrel isn’t currently imported into the USA so that would be a custom barrel or wait and see if they change in January.

The R8… top dog guns global has a very nice carbon fiber stock for the R8 jaeger action. Does anyone have one of these? The jaeger receiver and carbon fiber stocks are significantly more expensive than the professional style action and stock. Also for the 30-06 has anyone used blasers 20” barrel? I would really be keen on a fluted and threaded one but they’re crazy expensive.

I know this sounds crazy but I really don’t want a 308 Winchester. Even in a short barrel the 30-06 still has a speed advantage. What do you guys think? Left hand, light weight, 30-06, suppressor, do-it-all rifle.
My youngest son is left eye dominant yet right handed. I put him in an R8 several years ago and it was a great decision. I bought mine from Top Dog and Mark was very helpful to me.
The R8 and the options you want are very expensive but I believe when you get it you will love it. My R8 goes everywhere with me!

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
