Has anyone had their receiver bridge milled into a Picatinny (or Weaver) style Rings?

Thinking of having it done so my choice of rings and ring heights won't be so limited?

Ive never heard of or seen it done...but its a pretty interesting idea..

on that particular action there should be enough metal on top to not have to actually go deeper than the bridges.. it should just be a matter of cutting the channels and then making sure the width and the angles on the sides are correct..

Definitely an interesting thought..

That would be a great "Bubba" project :)! Take an elegant, precisely machined Brno 19MM dovetail square bridge action and turn it into a generic, cheap, and ( in my opinion) ugly Weaver style. It would probably work, and the machining would only cost about the same as a set of good ring mounts purchased from Optics Trade or some other on line dealer who routinely stock a wide variety of 19mm mounts. Your rifle would certainly be very personalized. On the other hand, A quick search showed at least 41 different ring/mounts available for your rifle as pictured.

Sounds like an interesting idea but the problem as I see it is your rifle already has what appears to be a,19mm dove tail mount. The weaver and pic mounts are a different size again with different grip angles. The only way around it that I can see is to mount a set of weaver/pic bases on your rifle.
Just my thoughts Cheers.

@SAFARIKIDD the other responses although a bit harsh, are correct. It’s a bubba move and serious downgrade.

An A+ upgrade of the highest quality is to mill and inlet pivot mount rechnagel or EAW bases into a “pseudo square bridge”. That’s the finest mount you can buy. The bases and machining will run you about $1500 all-in including rings.

Picatinny and tactical.
Not two words that come to mind often when talking about African rifles.
Especially with such beautiful wood.

I fear you would loose the "lines" of the rifle to borrow a term from the auto world.
In addition, if you ever decide to sell the rifle, the buying market will be much reduced.
Most will prefer the 19mm dovetail vs something that is not easily changed back.

Don’t do it!!!

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
