I'm a gunsmith in central NH who is relatively late to the game in regards to hunting rifles. It's only been in the last few years that I have gotten into making hunting rifles myself on a regular basis. My first rifle i ever built for deer hunting was a very light weight spainish mauser 98 i built in 6.5x55 with iron sights (not pictured). My father fed me a steady diet of weatherby & other magnum calibers growing up so I rebelled by getting into medium bores, shotguns & semi autos first before the big guns.
Ideally an africa trip is in the cards in the next few years. However, I am in the beginning stages of building a 9.3x62 for a regular who is headed there in the next year or so, which is quite exciting. It's nice to be able to live vicariously through your customers! He was pleased enough with his 7x57 he wants a big brother to compliment it and the 8x57 I'm building him.
It is really interesting getting insight from people who are spending time in Africa on what they like, and don't like. So I decided to join up and see the big guns from another perspective.
