Possibly the same one you were asking about though I have hunted for several others as well.
While not wishing to disappoint anyone, I am not a good story-teller even though I have quite a portfolio tucked away in my memories.
By "sharing experiences", I would be quite happy to provide answers to questions.

Truffles in the Val d'Ossola are uncommon as far as I know but a wide variety of edible mushrooms abound. Alas, my forages to my homeland are few and far between and rarely do I time it right to be able to savour some of these delicacies.

The sporting arms of my choice, at least the ones I chose over numerous others that I once possessed are a 300 Win Mag, .375 H&H Mag. and .500NE with an O/U 12 Gauge to top off my battery.

Prior to the above, I dabbled with numerous DG calibers: 450/400, 450NE, 416 Rigby, 470NE and eventually settled for the .500NE which is what I what I would classify a a "no nonsense" caliber and relatively comfortable to handle.

After having used a 30-06, 318WR and 7 Rem Mag (I did a lot of shooting with that rifle and almost broke my heart parting with it) did I settle for the 300 Win Mag. The O/U 12 Gauge has been with me for the past 30 years and I do not ever intend parting ways with it.

I hardly ever use the 375 as the 300 does all the dirty work just as efficiently.

As far as makes are concerned: 300 Win Mag (Rem. Mod. 70) - 375 H&H (Churchill) - 500NE (Greifelt & Sons) and the O/U (Franchi Variant).

I thought Greifelt and Sons did not survive the war.
The "Greif-Drilling" was quite popular here before 1939.

The date of manufacture is 1927 (January). I was told that by a German client who desperately wanted to buy the rifle from me as an addition to his collection that Greifelt & Co. did not survive the war.

My hunting has been restricted to Tanzania where I shot my first elephant at the age of 18.
Hunting has over the years and more recently become more commercialised, to the point where it has become unaffordable to most hunters and naturally wild venues like Tanzania are but a dream.
