Wow, I'm surprised and pleased there are so many Alaskans here.
@Velo Dog nope, not in Los Anchorage, over on the Kenai Peninsula. Next hunt will be back in South Africa as part of a much bigger adventure that I'm not at liberty to discuss, and then in the next couple of years a 28 day in Uganda, then probably back to Zim (I really like that country, the people are awesome), and maybe Tanzania...maybe. But I love Namibia so will no doubt hunt there too, we will talk about that when the time comes. Meanwhile always willing to chat about hunting or fishing with like minded folks.
@Ryan I've got a couple of friends that live in the Ninilchik area. Next time you head down this way holler first and we'll grab some coffee.
@R.M.C. most folks in the US would pick March 2020. But I know it actually started in November of 2019 and to a friend, and where. Of course might have been even earlier than that, but that's the earliest I know.
@cls well I've got some. One would revolve around my very first African Safari, stepping in an Aardvark hole the first day of an 18 day hunt before I'd even hunted a single animal, tearing an arm muscle, and being in extreme pain the next 18 days, shooting with only one arm, and the best shooting I've ever done in my life, before or after- and I have no idea how to explain that. Or there is the hunt in Mexico that was the strangest, weirdest, worst hunt I've ever been on, culminating with seeing a UFO- I kid you not. Or the 125 grain ballistic tip I shot into a monster black bear thinking I'd drop it in its tracks like I had everything else up to that point. Or crossing the border at Plumtree at 1am and after leaving immediately coming across a flipped over bus with dead and injured bodies strewn everywhere. But I'll have to get to know you guys better before I share any stories. ;-)
@David AK 53 okay, so the first time I went to Whittier I was convinced that in WW2 there must have been a secret sub base there. What say you? PWS is awesome- boat or plane?
@John the Electrician some winters aren't too bad, others like this last one will have you spending a lot of time looking at the wrong end of your gun. Not a good thing. But heh, it's sunny and warm now (for our standards) and daylight 24 hours a day, and love is in the air.
