Help Me Choose a 1911 Pistol

Never trade a firearm. Just buy another.

That is unless you just plain do not like it.

Uh oh, making me second guess myself.
I planned on using my 5906 as a trade for the Ruger 1911 Target at my local gun shop.
if it aint broke, dont fix it.

@Opposite Pole , the most common problem with 1911's is many are picky about magazines. If you have failures to feed, the first place to look is always the magazine. It will be the culprit most of the time.

Kimber factory magazines are made by Chip McCormick (http://www.cmcmags.com/). Those are among the best made. Your Kimber should have no problem feeding with them.

In my opinion the absolute best 1911 magazines are Wilson 47D's. If you decide you want some additional magazines, I would recommend you order the Wilsons (http://shopwilsoncombat.com/1911-Ma...ze-8-Round-Standard-Base-Pad/productinfo/47D/). They are a bit expensive, but you'll find that a huge number of the guys on the professional competitive shooting circuit shoot wilson magazines exclusively. No one makes a better 1911 magazine in my opinion.

Congratulations on the purchase. The 1911 is a wonderful pistol. Most are very accurate right out of the box, theyre fun to shoot, and even more fun to customize and "make it your own".
I have 2 45 ACPs, and the Wilson Combat 7 round magazines work great in both. (1 LDA and a Sig Sauer RCS, specifically)

Hi Phil, take a look at the Tarsus 1911. It has many custom features and you can find them for about $400 They shoot very well too. When you decide what features you like sell it and move up. You will get your money back on the Tarsus..

FWIW, Cabelas will have Kimber 1911's on sale this Saturday (24 March) for a 5 hour "Doorbuster" sale...$100 off any/all models..
