It's only been a few days, so be patient. I think that safari operators don't always consider how expensive it is for us to travel there from the U.S. or other places, and the cost of importing trophies back, no matter how great a deal the hunt itself might be. With thousands of dollars in airfare and thousands of dollars in import costs for trophies, we need to add $4,000-5,000 to the cost of any safari, plus a few hundred dollars in airport transfer fees, since I see on your website that you don't include them for this hunt. No matter how great of a deal it is for the hunt, we are still looking at an absolute minimum of about $8,000 once all costs are calculated for even the most basic of hunts. It takes more than a few days to work out all the logistics (hunting partners, permission from wives, etc.) before one can commit to even a great deal. $8,000+ for five days of hunting, is still a lot of money for most. I am a bowhunter, and five days is simply not enough for a reasonable chance at success for the species one wishes to take. So the cost of adding additional days will also be a significant factor. I do really appreciate that you are interested in the thoughts of your clients! I also like the Rand pricing, since I don't think a lot of safari operators have taken into consideration how well the Dollar is doing against the Rand these days.

After reading this offer again it says pickup and drop off included, so no transfer fees. With the dip& pack and export for these trophies to the US I would say that it could all be done for $6500.

What I like to do is try to offset some of the cost. The best way for me is to send Outfitter a deposit when I book my dates. Depending on how far off the hunt is (1 year or even 2) I will send the outfitter an additional sum before I get there. Than square up the balance after the hunt. To me it just helps not having to come up with all the money at once. As far as taxidermy I do the same. Give taxidermist a deposit to start work. Most times it will be at least 10 months to a year until trophies are complete, than I pay balance.

Jeff, thanks for pointing that out. I had missed it on my first read. I'm not saying it's not a great offer, it obviously is. I was just mentioning some reasons why it might be that people didn't respond within the first five days of the offer, which was the OP's question. Africa is a great value, especially now. It is an especially good value with those operators that are business savvy enough to market to those with currency doing well against the Rand, like Henry Griffiths is obviously doing here.

Our pricing is in South African Rand to give our Clients the best possible deals as they can pay deposit when the exchange is best for them, and we don't have to build a buffer into our prices for when the exchange rate might change. Balance of the payment for the hunt is payable on the last day of the hunt, we use the exchange rate on that day, you can still pay in USD or Euro.

I am considering going to Africa next year as a first timer but will be going with my father and his friend who have both been before.
This looks like a good package for a first timer but with a little more choice would make it better.
If this is possible than stating it in the ad would help especially for those who have been before and may already have some of these trophies and would like something else.
I read in a few posts back that a zebra can be changes for an impala so if there is more options available then let people know the full picture may help them decide what to do.

I spoke to Henry this morning. He said he has had no interest in this hunt so far. Just looking for some input from fellow hunters. Is there something that turns off you guys? Is it the rand pricing? I can assure you it is good for the hunter. Allows Henry to give the best possible deals. I personally have been to Africa 5 times and hunted with other outfitts. I think the package and included animals are perfect. As others have said, most guys are booked at this time of year. I think if you revive this one around the beginning of show season, December/January, you will get some bookings.

I also think this is a good deal. I am booked for 2017 and have not yet locked anything in for 2018. I am trying to find some hunting buddies that would like to go to Africa and this looks like it would work well for them with me doing the Sable hunt special you have at the same time for myself.

As a beginner just last July my comment would be that wildebeest and warthog are not at all high on our species priorities. Consider replacing them with antelope of some kind and keeping zebra would have attracted me much more.

Warthog and blue wildebeast are my two favourites. Warthog because they are always wild, you need a quick shot and they are hard to keep in one jagplaas. Blue wildebeast is the poor man's buffalo, a very strong animal where you need a good shot to harvest it, otherwise you can look forward to a day of tracking. But then again, all African game is fascinating...i shot over a 100 and spent over a half year of my life hunting in SA. Any hunter should go once, then you'll be hooked.
