I'm shooting 2 high country bows at 75 lbs and a mathews solo cam at 72 lbs what's good home workouts to increase the easiness to pull them back. I pull them back fairly easy now. But would like to work up to 80lbs later without hurting back muscles and shoulder. As far as form goes I'm pretty sure I'm fine there high shoulder and elbow and pulling with back muscles in a push and pull motion

I would do dumbbell "draws" from a horizonal bench, until I could do 10 with 80 pounds with no problem. (I would do both arms).

When you reach this point, I would start trying to draw my bow from a seated position (outside, with an arrow nocked and pointed at a target) until you can do it without a problem.

This 60-year old geezer, would still like to have that problem.

Dang, just today, I shot a #42 recurve and could barely keep arrows in a 10" circle at 20M.

That's what I've been doing currently 20 lbs easily on the dumbbell draws on the bench didn't know it had to be the same weight as the bow though

Using something like this in the same push-pull method as you use in drawing your bow can help.

I still do this everyday, 50 perfect pushups one set. When I shot recurves nothing worked better. I no longer shoot recurves but still do my pushups to stay in shape

I did dumb bell draws on the bench 20 times earlier today at 50 lbs. I definitely felt a difference. I'm gonna do it again tonight and do the push ups and dead lifts. Would you recommend not shooting my bow for the rest of the week?

No many bowhunters “swoll” like Bowmar His wife can probably draw a heavier bow than me! But since it’s his passion you might watch his workout vid to draw heavier poundage

@Conner_Da_Bow_Hunter

This first exercise is the one I have found to be the absolute best for strengthening the right muscle groups for increasing your bow draw strength...

That's what I've been doing just started doing it last night at 50 lbs and when and shot my 75 lb bow earlier and it was just a little easier to pull back but not that much did notice I could hold it back longer at full draw. I dropped down to 70 lbs so I can shoot more. Gonna have to work my way up. What's the best form for drawing it back the easiest??

Same exercise.... They way I do it is to start out with a set of 10-12 reps at about 50% of my max. Then I do subsequent sets going up in weight to about 80% of my max. Do as many reps as you can if you cant get all 10-12 reps in... I do about 5 sets in total bilaterally...

You will notice that the ease of drawing back will come as you get stronger... However, it's important to remember that most bows with dual cams capable of higher poundage draw weights have nasty draw cycles... The only wat to overcome that is by increasing muscle strength...

Yeah my high country bows both have dual cams. And my mathews is solo cam do you recommend workout out and shooting everyday? As far as form goes is high shoulder and elbow good?

I married a big woman. 26 years of strength training. Still get in minimum 3 good workouts a week. Lots of core/back muscle push pull motions. Never had an issue with strength.

People have always been amazed at what I can pull, lift, or move. Everyone comes to me with things they need strength help with. I have opened many a jar.

Dad always said about me that if not for my hunger for big women and beer I would have been a world class athlete.

Not sure what your level of commitment is, but thought I would share.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
