AH legend
'never had 'em weigh the ammo in the US or Africa (just the bags). Count rounds in Africa? Yes. If it's written on the case, they just write that down (same thing written on temp import permit).
Air Canada bad? You must be jokingI haven’t flown with them to Africa, but I’m always surprised United gets such bad reviews for customer service. I fly at least once a month for work last 10 years. For North American carriers, United and Delta have always been best for getting me where I’m going. American loves to cancel my trip without rebooking me after I land in Dallas for a layover. Air Canada has always been the worst in all aspects. I really don’t think you know what you get until your trip starts unfortunately. They’ve all been good and bad at some point.
Honestly I group United in with all USA based carriers- avoid if at all possible!
We have little if any consumer protection laws in the USA for airlines and until our transportation secretary is replaced nothing will change.
They don't even charge extra for the included extra "food". You will be treated like "a problem" and asked to deplane if you are unsatisfied. Better service on a third world bus than Air Can'tada.Air Canada bad? You must be joking
Passengers kicked off Air Canada flight for refusing vomit-soiled seats ...
C.W., you're lucky. I should have been more specific - no, never a weight check on ammo in the US. At check in I provide a list of ammo - individual weight of each round in grams, number, and total weight.'never had 'em weigh the ammo in the US or Africa (just the bags). Count rounds in Africa? that's insane. lotsa corruption/stupidity going on that can be countered with an IQ, PH with license (and in Zim the Tourism Agency of the gov't. will swiftly end such BS incidents!) I used Rifle Permits once in SA, but it's not necessary for those that can fill out the paperwork and speak intelligibly themselves. Some people just don't know how to read/interact with others, and they should have spokespeople. put another way (and it's now going on in America,) when an economy is down and inflation up, petty crime and low level govt official corruption (not to speak of our leaders LMAO) goes up to help make ends meet. i suspect it's been that way all along in Africa. We did almost have our rifles stolen by someone at Tambo pretending to be an official (leading me and the real-world equivalent of Croc Dundee down a dark corridor,) when my PH had enough and barked "SHOW ME YOUR CREDENTIALS" at which time he ran all the way back to Soweto!!! If you're not engaging and friendly (and even jovial!), hands in pocket sweating out your inspections, you're going to be taken advantage of. It's Africa where it's been an issue.
As for the count, I have seen them count each round and I have seen them count by row and multiply.
It seems arbitrary and based on math skills.
That's the police - the airlines are only concerned with weight.
A follow up...They don't even charge extra for the included extra "food". You will be treated like "a problem" and asked to deplane if you are unsatisfied. Better service on a third world bus than Air Can'tada.
