How many double rifles do you own?

The closest thing to a proper double barreled rifle which I own ... is my " Old Belgian " and I could not love it more .

It is a 12 Bore double barreled side by side shot gun , made in Belgium in 1950 . It has 3 inch chambers , extractors and 28 inch long barrels ( The left barrel is fully choked . The right barrel is modified choke ) . I used hand loaded spherical ball cartridges in this grand , old gun . The cartridges are 3 inch Eley Alphamax magnum " High Brass " . The bullets are 1 ounce spherical balls of hardened lead ( which I currently mould myself ) .
The " Old Belgian " fires spherical ball bullets with remarkable accuracy out to 30 yards . I have been using it extensively since 1959 , and exclusively until 1996 ( I did not purchase any other fire arms before 1996 ). I used it as my back up " rifle " during my 10 year career as a professional shikaree , working for Allwyn Cooper Limited in Nagpur, India from 1961 to 1970 . Aside from taking jungle fowl , water fowl and various species of Indian deer for the pot over the years .... I have also used it to dispatch 11 royal Bengal tigers , which had been mortally wounded by my clients , Wild Boars , Asian Sloth Bears , 15 gaur bisons ( using only double lung shots , at night by ambushing them near water holes and shooting them over torch light ) and 21 man eating forest panthers , including the most recent 1 in February 2020 of this year .

I had always dreamt of owning an Auguste Francotte side lock side by side double barreled rifle , chambered in 9.3×74 mm Rimmed , though . With 24 inch long barrels , automatic ejectors , beaver tail fore end , no automatic safety and double triggers . It would have made the perfect back up rifle , during my career .
Fascinating career !

Ok. I know Verney Carron perfectly..i own one, but never named it VC

Was a time when VC aka Victor Charlie, or just plain Charlie stood for something way different than a double barreled rifle, so missing the current meaning of VC is perfectly understandable.

Not in the class of some of the classics, but I own a trio of Pedersoli Kodiak’s. One in each caliber. All three for the price of some of the affordable doubles....~$6k plus

'Got my first about a year ago but it's more of a North American double than an African Double. I'm mostly a duck hunter and have hunted with double shotguns since 1985. Our gun season for whitetail runs from August 15 through January 1 so I had four months of shooting ducks/birds in the morning with a double then climbing a tree in the evening with a bolt rifle so I picked up a Browning Express in .30-'06 last April. Because of the coastal flooding I only got to kill one deer with it last year but, amazingly, the under barrel was a misfire - the first time in 45 years of deer hunting. I cycled the safety to reset the inertia trigger and dropped the buck with the over barrel.

When I got the gun, I never intended to hunt Africa yet here I am...

I'm getting a good grouping at 100 yards but I have to shoot a 150 grain in the under barrel and a 180 in the over barrel. At first I was disappointed but after thinking about it, I wouldn't want it any other way. I use a tipped 180 and mark the bottom of the case with a sharpie so I can keep get the right "bullet" in the right chamber. Here's two 100 yard groups. The one on the left was first and I did a scope adjustment came back with a cold rifle and shot the group on the left. Looking at the trajectory of the two different shows them almost in lock-step out way beyond what I can shoot with a 1.5x to 5x scope.

That is a beautiful double

Three for now. All Pedersolis. Each a different caliber.

Sounds good Tarawa, what calibres? Can you send pictures? Have you hunted them yet, or still plan to?
Hi Kevin,
I have hunted only Florida hogs with the 45-70 and the 8x57JRS. Took hogs with both. 45-70 (125 yard shot). 8x57 (80 yard kill). I finally after 10 years, bought ammo for the 9.3 x74R. Great guns if you are man enough to lug them around…just kidding. They are a little muzzle heavy, but three doubles for just a tad over $6k, I can’t complain. I plan on hunting much more this season. At 68 it’s time to quit working.

Can we include, or show an occasional shotgun?

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
