Men, I have a mission for you. Recently I bought 32 rounds of ammo at an auction. It was cheap, but I don't know caliber it is.

The headstamp is 30-06. However it is clearly not. Here are a few pics. There is a 30-06 on the right in the last pic for reference.

Any help identifying it would be appreciated. Also if anyone wants to buy it let me know.

Thanks gents.

It doesn't look like any of the standard 06 wildcats with the shoulder like it is. On most 06 wildcats they just neck up or down for the new round.

The first thing that I would do is to measure the bullet to find out what caliber it is. Then go from there.

Here is a picture of the more popular wildcats from the 06 and it doesn't look like any of those

.25-06, 270 Win, 280 Rem, 30-06, and the .35 Whelen

Actually it looks a lot like the Whelen. Has the same shoulder. My buddy at work reloads ammo for me a lot. I'll have him bring his micrometer in and check them.

Danger, Will Robinson.

Hopefully you are Only breaking them down for components.

Huh, originally think’in maybe 8x57 Mauser but I’m leaning w/ majority on the .35 Whelen.

By the looks of the bullets, neck length and shoulder I'm betting it's a .375 Whelen. Good friend of mine shoots that caliber and those rounds look like his.
I had never heard of this one but after reading about it the round sounds quite interesting.

Right now for the cartridge in question I'll go with the 375 Wehlen

Pull one and weigh it and get a look at the base, oal. The primers and brass will be OK but I wouldn't use the powder for reloading. Mike the brass to get it's shape, that might tell you what caliber it is.

.375 Whelen (.375-06) … curiosity immediately drew me into that cool concept & BAMM! I’m no seasoned Ammo Guy, ‘I Need Your Help’ may have a serious contender here & maybe my 1st rebore project  !?

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
