If you could only keep three guns, what would they be?

Is your .375 Remington the "KS" model (Kevlar Safari) or a full custom. I almost bought a factory KS model a couple of years ago on GB but was outbid. How does it shoot?
It’s the model called “KS Custom”. The one with the blind magazine (3+1 capacity).

It shoots extremely accurately (far more than a Winchester Model 70 Safari Express chambered in the same caliber).

I had McBride’s Gun Works replace the flimsy Remington Model 700 factory extractor with an M16 extractor in 2023 for added reliability.

Blaser R8 with a dozen barrels

12 bore from Purdy with a couple of barrels

Glock 19

Blaser R8 with 375H&H, 300WM and 257WBY barrels.

Benelli SBE3 12 bore, 3.5” chamber and 28” barrel

Daniel Defense DD4 MK18 RIII SBR 556NATO

Blaser R8 and variety of barrels
Cosmi shotgun
M14 18.5” tanker

And a 686+ and P226

And just like that the Blaser boys arrive, one after the other. Might have a little “Blaser gang” chat going on in the background.
If the stock of the R8 breaks, how many rifles would be operable? It’s ONE rifle with multiple barrels. Not my fault that @franzfmdavis didn’t have the foresight to anticipate this inevitable

@franzfmdavis you should have known it as inevitable that BeeMaa would include a brace of Blasers in his response

If only three. I would keep self and home defense weapons. I would prefer an AR platform. But I’m limited to 3 weapons I’m assuming other limitations such as parts resupply.

So would go with an AK, a pump shotgun and a 9mm Glock. Merely due to simplicity and my ammo supply.

Only three?

.338 Win Mag if not hunting in Africa. .375 of some sort if hunting in Africa is still an option.

Beretta M9A4, 9mm, with SRO.

Mossberg 500, 12 Gauge.

Just 3 Rifles?

5.56 AR Colt 6920
Winchester Model 70 .338 Win Mag
.416 Taylor (Substitute .375 Ruger until acquired)

Only one firearm?

12 Gauge.
If I’m down to just one things have gone horribly wrong and I will use that to kill and acquire whatever else I need. Even another firearm.

Tikka t3x lh .458wm
tikka t3x lite lh in 300win mag
tikka t1x lh in 22 long rifle
bps 20 gauge slug/field combo

I can’t make it work out in 3 guns and still do everything I want to do. I gotta have a shotgun and a .22 and that only leaves you one rifle slot. A 375 I guess could replace both rifles i listed but won’t fit in the t3x action which I’ve really taken a liking to. .375/338 Taylor would do the job but I’m not a fan of wildcat cartridges.

Hmm.. excluding any Zombie/Putin Apocalypse scenarios...

Something that will cover most/all hunting at home: 30-06
Big-ish stuff at home, but mostly abroad: 404J

These two I have already.

Then to top it off.. perhaps a combination gun in 6.5x57R or 7x65R and 12 or 20ga.. just to cover some mixed types of hunting.. from deer stalking to rabbits to birds.

Cosmi…interesting choice. I’ve never handled or shot one but they look pretty cool.
It's a sleeper. 8 rounds in what looks like a straightforward upland gun, but very high end. Comes in steel or titanium. 8 rounds. Way beyond the budget and wait for most of us.

It is fascinating that we all have much the same dilemma despite the variety of backgrounds we all come from. Only choosing three guns is difficult. The three that would be most useful for defensive situations, are not necessarily the most useful for hunting situations. And hunting situations vary by continent.

Just like in the discussions I have over dinner with my friends, I believe the ultimate consensus of this thread will be that we all need at least 97 guns…or one Blaser with 96 barrels.

Nevertheless, I am enjoying the comments and also appreciate the pictures for those who feel comfortable sharing them.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
