Is it feasible to travel with a Supressor to Africa?

I have seen it discussed in several threads but there doesn’t seem to be a solid consensus on whether this is truly possible or just a fools errand. Any tips and advice would be appreciated!

Just reading this short thread should give you an idea of why it might be a bad idea to take your suppressor.

I know that some people take them all the time and they have no problem. I'm happy for them. In my opinion, it just isn't worth the hassle and risk. Technically, yeah, it should be easy and it is legal as long as they are legal in the country you are going to visit.

But just look at other responses and see how fast your day can be ruined when the CBP or LEO or TSA or even Airline Employee, thinks they know the law better and decides you can't legally travel with it. If you hit a snag on the first step with the CBP officer in the US trying to get your form signed, it's a pretty low impact problem. You don't take it and move on. But if you hit that snag halfway through your trip somewhere, well, now it's a lot bigger impact to your trip. You can be completely in the right, and still have your day ruined by a person on a power trip, the two things are not mutually exclusive.

So, if you decide to take it, you are basically banking on every person you have to deal with either not caring enough to hassle you, or being well educated enough to not hassle you. I don't have good enough luck with these things to tempt it. I have certainly met too many morons with massively swole heads from tiny bits of authority who love wrecking other people's day to tempt it.

They are so easy to acquire in many other countries with hunting tourism. A lot of PH/guides will already have one there, or can go purchase one for you to have in camp when you arrive for a fairly cheap cost if you really want one on the hunt.

Relevant to my interest.

Does it have to be in checked luggage?
Has to be in a locked gun case. For USA travel that can be placed inside another checked bag but internationally must be separate from regular checked luggage. Inside rifle case is fine but some hunters place them in the ammo case(weight permitting) to avoid the additional scrutiny some CBP officials feel inclined to offer.
