Is there a best way to handle a poor African 1st experience and move on?

we got played. I want to be the judge jury and executioner :Blackalien: if we have a kangaroo court. agree with hank2211 this site is getting WAY to many false claims etc time for admin to respond at least ban the waterbuck if we cant have a kangaroo court of our own:mad:

I actually think that this is a good lesson and reminder. It shows the importance of holding back judgment until the entire story is heard and understood.

I mean go back and read the original post now and look at how silly and inconsistent it all sounds. But, the first time it was read....

@Buckdog @Hank2211 I definitely think we got played. I think this was kind of blatant given the Avatar. My only other thought is the outfitter is doing the taxidermy on the Golden Wildebeest and if he names him there is concern that it is never coming home.

However if we did get played, what I don't understand is why. I have seen this website and the members here really help people in bind and have helped inform others if there was a legitimate bad trip. I don't understand why someone posts a fake trip report, or a fake problem, it is just amusement or do are they an anti. I don't know.

general douchebaggery!
Someone just being an ass and wanting to see how we all react, maybe get a laugh out of it.
Perhaps this thread and the OP should be removed until the OP presents more or can add to this

Delete the thread and ban the OP. Boys,...... we have been played like a Stradavarius.

Why delete the thread? It's a great lesson. Why hide it?

If OP is a troll, and I think it is, then it should be banned, but I think the thread serves a purpose.

Not sure what lesson it serves,...How gullible/opinionated we are to jump on an unsubtantiated claim ? Or, how we are out to defend an OP, on their story alone, without a rebuttal from the outfitter. Just thought it was "fishy" from the beginning and I was skeptical that the whole story, if any, was being told. At this time in my life, I am more adhereing to the "watch, wait, and listen" theory of life. JMO,.... Not deleting the thread could very well be a lesson for others, that would do the same, and, a lesson for us also. So...Leave it up. it does make a good read.

Ok I am gonna give Waterbuck the benefit of the doubt. I can see this going the way he described and I would not pay it but maybe he did and thought this was the way it works. I will be honest and as a hunter I can not put all the blame on the PH. The hunter has the gun and pulls the trigger. Ok, back to point. The golden goose is dead, hunter is embarrassed, he is not sure of how this works, and doesn't want to end up in jail in a foreign country. He pays the fee and the rest of the hunt is screwed up, but guess what, he still had a great time, he still shot a number of animals, i think it was over 7. Then he comes home and starts to realize he got scammed, didn't know it at the time but now after six months after he joined AH he is putting two and two together.

BTW if I spend $13,500 on an animal it would be my avatar, my hood ornament, my bed spread and my pillow.

I am not ready to hang em yet but Waterbuck needs to speak up or I see the lynch mob passing the point of no return.

My two cents that is worth one.

LOL on the hood ornament

If you haven't already, see my post on page 3. Post #55 of this thread. In August on his profile he puts how he just returned and had a great first safari. Now some six months later we get this rather sensationally awful report. I'm willing to listen to an explanation, but as Ricky once said there's some 'splaining to be done.

Till then I'm on the side of I violated my own rule of jumping on a side before getting more info......and the crow tastes awful.

I did see it Philip, my point being is that he had a good time, created an avatar and stated how he just returned and had was pleased BUT NOW SIX months later maybe he is realizing this was not how it should have happened and that he actually got scammed. The thread started to go sideways against him and I was just playing devils advocate UNTIL he speaks up again.

Thank you for all the positive comments. They are helpful and truly appreciated. There is a couple of additional points I would like to make. My experience over there was actually good. Here is why. I am currently in my mid fifties. I was able to go with a friend from middle school. We were 13 when we became friends and have been friends ever since, despite not ever living in the same state. My friend and I decided to enjoy ourselves no matter what. My idea to create this post only came when I received the pic. of the taxidermy work that I didn't like. I complained to the Taxidermy Company and then received a response from the outfitter. My posted summary is based on my best recollection some 8 months post hunt. Prior to posting, I did not discuss with my hunting buddy to refresh my memory, I did not have or create notes to review prior to posting, etc. I think that naming and slamming the PH here would show poor taste on my part as his side of the story is not represented here, nor is the account of any others involved. Further, I am sure that all people visiting his ranch don't have experiences like ours or he would already be out of business. My purpose was to vent a bit and gain composure. There has been an overwhelming response of positive feedback from members on this site and I am grateful for it.

With that in mind you should have never brought it up in the first place. Your reasoning baffles me.

Yes. :)

I still feel like you should name the outfitter. There is some weird circumstances there. And I definitely want to hear what they have to say, because as you said if everyone's experience was as you described they would be out of business. But there is a safety factor here as I recall a group wandered off and shot a buffalo.

I understand you enjoyed being with you friend and getting to hunt Africa, but brother your experience as described is not the norm. I can see the taxidermy putting you over the top. Can you at least give more details on what was wrong with the taxidermy work.

Also, the avatar picture of the golden wildebeest...Do you want to explain that? Some parts of your story seem to have weird circumstances.

Not trying to give you another kangroo court trail by social media but there is a lot of people looking to book hunts and look for references and reviews. This might impact their decision but also could prevent someone else from having the same experience.

If you name the Outfitter and/or PH, I am willing to bet that someone here will find them and that we will hear the other side of the story in short order

waterbuck as far as I am concerned PeteG has called it correct general douchebaggery and you have no more credibility as far as I am concerned.
now it was the taxidermy ya right, have a nice life!

Welp there went 15 min of my life I will never get back...Odd change of events to say the least.

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
