My wife just returned from a 2 week visit with our niece in Italy with her sister.

On her way home stopping in Rome she stopped at AH forum member Phil Giordano’s hunting store. And he sold her a very nice knife at an amazing price.

It’s a Tonerini Scarperia Inox
With 20 and 12 gauge shell extractors

The steel is very high quality and the antler handle has a very aged hue.
Thank you Phil for hosting the women and sending them home with this knife that will be kept in our family.

Neat looking knife. Very interesting end piece.

Shell extractors on a knife...only in Italy. ;)

That is a beautiful piece of kit. Hope it finds a home in your bag on an upcoming hunt.

BeeMaa, what I think is typical Italian and or European. Is a tool that will cut your sausage and cheese. Pull a cork for lunch break. then gut your game and remove a stuck shell without prying it out. And doing it all with some style.

I wasn't busting chops. It's clearly a very useful tool that's also beautiful and well made.

I was in contact with Phil before my wife’s trip. I told him she would end up in Rome for a few days before flying out.
And asked if she visited his store could he find a nice vintage souvenir that would be representative of Italian hunting. Outside of a firearm.

I think Phil nailed it.

Aitor in Spain made the same type when I was a youngster, and that was a few decades ago :E Lol:

What a great pleasure to read these lines my friend! So glad you like the knife, thank you for your purchase, I know it's in very good hands and will be in your pocket during the hunting season. Hope to have you in the shop next time!

One I acquired some years ago. 16 bore extractor ( my favorite shotgun caliber) sadly it lacks a corkscrew. The knife blade does lock. I still cringe at remembering my Swiss army penknife closing on my fingers as a dumb kid.

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe
