Just got engaged (again) now a question

I've been wearing the same simple 14K gold ring for nearly 34 years.

It has never caused me a problem.

I take it off from time to time, MRI's, X-Rays, auto mechanic work, etc.

Never been married but did have a really nice family coat of arms Ring made for myself when I first started making real money. Word of advice from a fool don’t wear one if your prone to physical discussions. I had to have the above mentioned ring cut off after breaking the finger it was on in two places in conversation with my sisters ex husband over his treatment of my nephew.
Worth it…

I need to figure something out. I’ve got a ring made from a shotgun barrel, but I can’t stand to wear it.

I tried one silicone ring but could get used to it either.

I’ve thought about a tattoo, but I’m really not a tattoo guy.

The problem is that my wife assumes that as soon as I leave the house women are running up and grinding on me because I don’t have a ring on.

If you want to try the tattoo idea for awhile without making it permanent draw it on with a sharpie , or better yet have he do it for you. You can call it a bonding thing , find somthing tubular like say a coin roller and trace the end then move it down your finger half an in and trace it again. Then just simply colour between the lines. Should last a couple weeks and give you a feel for how people react to it.

neither a solution or a problem... more of an unnecessary, but purposefully chosen adventure in our case.. (we're tattoo people.. getting a traditional polynesian tattoo, while in French Polynesia, from an internationally known artist (been written up in several trade magazines, has won awards, etc) was all part of the trip/vacation...

the fact that he was drunk as a monkey, lived in a house that didn't have a door (he used an old bed sheet), had chickens living in his den (they were actually everywhere.. the den, kitchen, hallways, etc), only took payment in cash (US dollars actually), and used traditional methods (sharpened piece of whale bone and natural inks) to apply the tattoo just made things more.... ummmmm.... interesting? or entertaining? or adventuresome? :D
Are yes the sound of Polynesia chickens didn’t mater how small the Moto is there’s always a chicken on it :ROFLMAO:

The best solution to this is to just not wear a ring. The second best solution is to wear the silicone ones when doing risky activities.

I know quite a few people have said that they wore theirs for 30+ years and never got hurt. But if you are one of them that does, or sees it happen, you aren't likely to keep taking the risk.

@Sabre - why take your wedding ring off? Whats the worst that can happen - you Lose your ring finger? So what, it’s the most USELESS of all Fingers and you’d still have “9 left”. Plus think of the Devotion that would Prove to your Wife “honey, I said I would rip my finger off before I’d stop wearing my Wedding ring”!! She will Never question your Love or commitment again….and let you Buy that nice Rifle you’ve been wanting !!!

I’m on this team. I don’t know any farmers that wear a ring. It’s too dangerous. Let your behavior show your commitment.
@Wyatt Smith - most Farmers I’ve met are already Missing a Finger or 2…those guys are tough & capable - can fix anything, build anything —- real Do-it-Yourself guys !!

We stopped wearing rings about 5 days after we got married. Still married 15 years later.

Mine is the same, then she sees me in action and realizes that I am not much of a threat.

@Russ16 - I’ve worn my wedding ring for 30+ years, it was My Father’s and he wore it for 25+ years before me - never even notice it’s on my finger but would feel “naked” without it. It’s a plain gold band, comfortable and gets bloody & clean - same as my hands….it’s NBD. I would think the more often you take it off the greater chance you Lose it
HAVE WORN MY DADS FOR 30+ YEARS ALSO, WHITE GOLD 5 LITTLE-BITTY DIAMONDS. CLIMBED MANY A COLUMN, HUNG WHO KNOW HOW MANY TONS OF IRON WITH IT ON, WALKED DRUNKIN DOWN MANY DARK STREETS, GUESS I'M LUCKY I STILL GOT A RING FINGER.

Working with ropes and horses a lot, I almost lost my ring finger and ring many years ago and haven’t worn it since. My wife understands and doesn’t complain.

As a matter of fact, we were at a motorcycle shop one day and I was standing in line at the parts counter when a woman in line struck up a conversation with me. The woman noticed I wasn’t wearing a wedding ring and asked if I was married. My wife was standing off to the side but within hearing distance. I decided to play a joke and told the woman I wasn’t married, knowing my wife was listening. Then a moment later I came clean and introduced my wife. We all had a good laugh! My wife thought it was funny. Since then I remind her every day what a lucky woman she is! Lol. Her response is that if I am considered good luck, that she can’t even imagine what bad luck would look like! Touche’

I got engaged last weekend—my second, her first.

Here’s my question. First time around I hated how my ring makes up gunstocks or had to be taken off all the time. I see a lot of gutted with these rubber wedding rings that look cheesy. Anyone know of a ring that looks decent that might be a somewhat softer material?
@Russ16
My wife and I are in our third time around each and have been together 25 years now
We both started off wearing wedding rings but the didn't fit us after a few years. We now don't worry about wearing a ring and haven't for a lot of years,we know we are married and don't need a ring to just be able to show everyone we are married.
A ring is only a symbol of marriage .
If you are worried about your ring damaging your stock you have three options.
Put a band-aid around it while hunting.
Put it on a chain around your neck
Leave it at home while hunting.
Option 4 is leave it and accept it may scratch your stock.
No need to buy a new one.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
