I am looking at the possibility of cashing in my Iowa points in 2025 for a gun hunt. Wanted to see if anybody could recommend a good outfitter in Iowa, preferably one that you’ve hunted with and have experience with. Thanks.
Thank youNathan Askew of @Bullet Safaris also hunts deer in Iowa. I’ve never deer hunted with him, but he has a very good reputation. He’s also a member here.
I know you are looking for firsthand experience, but just wanted to mention him if you haven’t looked at him before.
Stick with me good info coming below!Following for 26 archery

I’m doing my first Iowa deer hunt in a few weeks. Late season muzzleloader Jan [emoji6]-[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]], it is an outfitted hunt that I got at an SCI banquet. Will write up a report and comment about the outfitter if they are a good option for others
Will you be at Windy Ridge Outfitters?
Well, my son and I did our late season muzzleloader hunt on Jan 6-10th. This was the hunt I bought at an SCI auction. Hunt was in Region 6 in SE Iowa just a few miles north of the Missouri border. Come to find out we were in the same general area just a couple miles down the road from Lee Lakosky's place from the Crush TV show. Anyway, we had good cold weather that should be bringing the deer out to feed and saw numerous deer, but no bucks older than 3 years old and small 10 points in the 120" range. I think the biggest issue was the outfitter we hunted with had good property but not really that much food available in his food plots so the bigger deer just weren't there. Since our NR tags gave us an either sex tag and an anterless only tag my son and I both shot a big older doe for the freezer so we came home with a fair amount of venison for the freezer. After Alberta and Iowa I went 0 for 2 on big bucks this year, but when you are holding out for only a 160" or better that can be expected I guess. Better luck next time, still a fun time hunting with my son.
