Mauser Action Feeding Work - CZ 550

Making a rifle feed with any random bullet is a challenge. That is what started this thread. To get a spitzer bullet to feed is quite easy. Round nose is also fairly easy. But a hydro or flat nose solid is tough. Between a hydro without plastic cap, a Hornady 480 gr solid and a Pergrine 515 gr solid is a big variation in dimensions. Throw in win mag case vs lott case.

So while I agree that you can often adjust just one parameter and solve a small feeding issue, the true reliability of the mauser is in all the parts working together. The feed ramp, magazine lips, follower and bolt face/ extractor. Kind of like domino train falling. I think it starts at the feed ramp and then cascades along to thefollower.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
