Does Mozambique have any restrictions for bow hunting dangerous game? Here under Mozambique it states there are no restrictions for bow hunting dangerous game in Mozambique. It also implies they don’t even have a bow hunting license.

Mozambique is certainly a big destination on my list. Below is a few words I took from a website. I cannot say if this is still all accurate, but this looks like a great place for bowhunting.

"Bow Hunting in Mozambique

Bow hunting in Mozambique has been legal for many years. There are no restrictions on primitive weapons for hunting in Mozambique, so long bows, compound bows and crossbows are all legal. There are no requirements for bow weights or arrow weights, but common-sense dictates that some type of guide like South Africa’s bow requirements be followed. This is especially important when hunting dangerous game and Mozambique offers some of the best free-range bow hunting for dangerous game in modern Africa.

Mozambique offers the best free-range bow hunts for Cape buffalo that is available today. With vast herds of buffalo roaming the sawgrass swamps in areas like Coutada 10 and 11, the numbers are there to support spot and stalk bow hunting for these challenging beasts. The high saw grass provides the perfect cover to be able to sneak up close to a bull for a shot with a bow. There is nothing quite like one of these Zambezi Delta buffalo bow hunts and it is a unique experience that should not be missed.

Mozambique is also one of the only countries that allow elephants to be hunted with a bow. Mozambique receives an annual CITES quota for elephant ivory exportation but at the present time, the USFWs is not allowing elephants that were hunted in Mozambique to be imported into the US.

There is a good variety of plains game available in Mozambique that can be hunted with a bow. Mozambique has a good population of both the common and Roosevelt nyala and many of the largest specimens taken each year come from Mozambique. Mozambique also has good a population of Cape eland and kudu. Of special interest to bow hunters are the small antelopes that are available to be taken with a bow. These include the blue duiker, natal forest Duiker (red duiker), suni, oribi and common duiker. Northern areas also have populations of Sharp’s grysbok. For those seeking the tiny ten with a bow, the high populations of these small antelope make this a good choice for the bow hunter.

Finally, Mozambique has good populations of leopards and lions. Hunting leopard with dogs is legal in Mozambique and is a highly effective method of getting a leopard into a tree for a shot by a bow hunter. Lions may be hunted on bait from a blind or elevated stand and provide a heart thumping experience for the adventurous bow hunter."

I saw a couple of buffalo taken with archery gear in 2014, I believe the hunters just had regular licenses and no idea if they required certain arrow weight, cutting width or draw weight. It was definitely exciting to watch.
Coutada 10 was the concession.

Hmm I would check this...as far as I know, hunting DG with bow is not allowed in Moz. As of 2017 I think.
I was there in 2014, that’s Africa. Extremely fluid so to speak.

I hear rumors that bow hunting isn’t allowed on certain animals but no one has provided me with any regulations or laws stating its illegal. I’ve heard it both ways from different outfitters. My thought it depends on the concession or if the outfitters doesn’t want to deal with bow hunters. Someone provide me the law or regulation???

I received this offer yesterday, it clearly states the Game Department sanctioned this hunt.
Thought I had already posted it but may have put it in the wrong thread.

I can assure that it IS NOT legal to bow hunt buffalo with a bow in Mozambique. Been keeping in touch with the Duckworth's on this very subject. As recent as a month ago. Bow hunted buffalo with them in Zim a few years ago. One of the best hunts of my life. If you are not hell bent on going to Mozambique, I would highly recommend them in Zimbabwe. The only reason I am not going back to bow hunt buffalo with them in Zimbabwe is because I am hell bent on bow hunting buffalo with them in Mozambique. Good luck!

So , Massinger Safaris is lying about the Game Department allowing them to hunt buffalo with a bow?

Just telling you what I have found. Been trying/waiting on this to open up for the last few years. Gary Duckworth is in the business of booking hunts. Can't see why he would tell me that, full well knowing that I would book it. Just saying. Go for it if you think it is legit. Who knows, like the guys said above, things change over there on a daily basis.
