I’ve been trying to get my 14 year old son weened off the AR. He likes the pistol grip and adjustable stock. We are finally moving beyond the standard teenage boy area suppression fire after missing a nice buck this Winter…maybe the old man is on to something about making one shot count?. Anyway, I’m not much of a fan of new tech rifles. I saw a couple of these chassis setups and figured we’d try one. This is a LSS by MDT. The action is a Bighorn Origin. The intent is to shoot 6X45, but I had this 6.5 Manbun barrel here from a Savage project so today I cut it down to 17” and threaded it 5/8-24 for the Silencerco Harvester. It’s about 8.5lbs as is. The new barrel will be carbon fiber and hopefully we’ll lose an additional half a pound with it.
First impressions of the chassis is positive. The machining is very nice. It’s too heavy. The hardware is Magpul. Plastic but decent quality. Hope to get a range report soon. Right now the conditions are not conducive to a fun time at the shooting area.
