Yes, the hunt was well worth it. And the animals were in surprisingly good shape, all things considered with the lack of rain. I would not hesitate to go back to Namibia, I really enjoy the country and what it has to offer.
I just enjoy driving the roads there. Being that there are very few high fences, you are liable to see any species of animals on the roads grazing. It's not true free range like in other countries, but for the most part, the low fences do not keep the native wildlife in. We would see zebra, hartebeest, Oryx, Blesbuck, impala, springbuck, etc. standing along side the road eating. If the animals were bothered by our vehicle approaching, they'd just go through the fence. Seeing the zebra get their big bodies through the fence was something to behold, but they did it with ease, proving that they can pretty much go where they choose. Very dangerous to drive the roads there, especially at night. We did pass some high fence properties and many of those apparently had elephants and/or rhino as there were usually sections of the fence that were damaged and Pieter stated that is where the big boys decided to make an exit. We didn't see the 'big boys' along the roads, but it is certainly possible, so drive with caution.
Already dreaming of trip number 3.......
