Namibia Windhoek Taxidermy?

Thank your the opportunity to comment regarding the Taxidermy choice in Namibia.
We believe the taxidermist choice is a personal choice of the client. We recommend the client get in touch with our other clients that have made use of the local taxidermist to enquire about their experience(s). In the event that the client decide to make use of the local taxidermist, then Kowas is prepared in going that extra mile to be the "eyes" of the clients to conduct the final quality control check prior to the trophies being packed to be shipped. This is an additional service that we render to our valued Kowas clients.
We recommend the clients visit the taxidermist that they consider and TALK to other clients that have made use of their service weather it is good or bad service. TALK to others. To have peace of mind, is priceless.
In the event that the client choose not to make use of a Namibian taxidermist, then we respect their choice.

Paul Reiser Taxidermy is in Windhoek and I have used them personally with good results. They did a Zebra Rug, some flatskins and the European mounts for myself and a friend, very pleased with all of the work. The outfitter, Agarob Safaris, drove us to the facility, and we unloaded all the trophys and spread them out for ID and inspection. After confirming who has what, we concluded the paperwork face to face with the staff at Paul Reiser. I will use them again.

Can you forward me Reiser Taxidermy's contact info? Do they have a webpage?

Thanks,

Thanks for the contact. I'm going to Omatako in 2 weeks, so timely info. I'd like to do my taxidermy here, but leadtimes seem to be getting longer & longer. My bear rug is looking like 11 months if lucky. My mounts from RSA last year are looking like up to a year & a half, but did take 7 months to get here with back skins tanned. My pheasant took over 6 months. My buddy had his RSA mounts done there & hanging on the wall already, plus said they all looked good.

Garbage...nice!

You've gotta be a pretty good guy or we wouldn't share the same passion for hunting. Heck, I'd even have a beer with ya

I just won't let you choose my taxidermist
It's not the message, it's the presentation...

If your outfitter doesn't recommend anyone - I might read something into that, must be a reason - for me the warning lights would be on, it would be dip and pack and back home, lots of good taxidermists in your neck of the woods
Ditto on that red flag? Do you have an import broker set up? They usually know who does the best dip and pack service.

At the very least, ask to see photos of the finished work before paying. After 10 months with almost no communication I was told all work was complete and ready to ship as soon as I paid up, which I did the same day. Another month plus goes by with no word, till I finally a) asked what the status of my trophies was, to which I received no reply till I b) asked my PH to please check on things. I was then told not to worry, one mount was almost done, they were ready to start another, and the hides were being worked on... (??) More time goes on, and finally they were sent to the shipping agent who told me they needed money to proceed. I paid in full immediately and after a week or so was thanked for my payment and informed it would take 6+ weeks to get permits etc. to ship.
Still waiting. But the shippers do seem a bit better at communication. Assuming things will arrive this fall some time, I will update on the quality of the work, once I see it. At this point, without a serious recommendation I will not get more mounts done in Namibia.

I was going to have my stuff from Namibia sent to Sa for mounting. My Ph took me to ingwe wildlife to look at there work. I meet up with the owner looked at finished work plus mounts being done. Shop was clean well kept up and worked looked very good. So after doing all the numbers and since I shot more then I had plan to I am having them mount the stuff. So far all emails and quote questions have been answered and handled that we have both been happy.

That are with in 30 minutes of the airport so easy to stop by and check the place out.

I decided to have all my taxidermy done at Kings Taxidermy in Namibia. I didn't get a chance to go visit, but a few notes on this website & a recommendation from the PH when asked about them, plus the fact my mounts from RSA last July are still in limbo in the US, made my decision. I've learned that everyone in RSA & Namibia uses WhatsApp, so using that have had several texts so far with Kings about the work, with quick response, & a prompt quote was emailed to me. Fingers are crossed. I've been waiting 6 months now for capes to be tanned here with Jonas Bros, with no confirmation when they might be done. So, it will be at least a year & a half before I see those, if I'm lucky. My buddy had his mounts from RSA done at a local studio there & had them hanging on the wall within a year later. Kings said ~6 months from when they get them, even though I'd be happy if they show within a year. All said & done, it won't be a lot cheaper, but thought I'd try something different.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
