Before my first Buffalo hunt I decided no frontal shots as my first shot. Hitting both shoulders with a 400 grain premium bullet takes a lot of danger away from the ph and trackers.

I watched this video last night and was thinking where I’d shoot. I thought I’d follow the base of his ear down to his chest between red and green.

I shot my Buffalo in 2023 in this exact same position except mine was standing 20 yards away.
I shot him between the red and the green and a little bit lower.
My 375 H&H with Barnes 399 gr TSX took off the top half of his heart.

Between the red & green. Same place I aimed for on the last buffalo I shot. Buffalo was in opposite stance at about 100 yards. 300 grain CEB solid caught both lungs, the heart, and exited in front of the left hip. Dead in less than 50 yards.

Agree with between red and green. .375 with a 350 gr. TSX but flip the Blaser quickly and put a second one in the exposed shoulder as he turns.

Between red and green, maybe a bit closer to green. My 2022 buff gave this same presentation at around 25 yards. With a .416 or up, I would be confident with monometal bullets, assuming I was steady. With a .375, I'd maybe wait for a bit more of a broadside. This angle will likely require taking out the humerus on the way in.

I think between Red & Green, closer to Green than Red but also a bit higher than those dots.

Non of the 4.....

White is too far left(will pass between the shoulder and rib cage, may never be found), blue is too far right(will clip the top of the left lung, may never be found)....
Between red and green but a bit higher.....both are a bit too low...

Yellow, is where I would push a 500gr SBC .458 soft at 2250fps.
Red and Green is too low marginal White and Blue also marginal shots.

I think we all know the real value in shooting with these real life images in mind is. You need these factors, angles, bullet path, anatomy all banked in your subconscious.

We all hope to have :5 for the PH to whisper into our ears. “ ok, you see that stick, that little tuff of hair, spot of mud? Shoot 2” above that mud and 1” to the right.

Your trackers and PH got you into position. From there you should be prepared to do your job.

After your weapon of choice is decided on. And dialed in. If possible practice with cardboard or wood targets. If not. mentally think of the shot angles. Body position and bullet path. And do it quickly without a lengthy conversation with your PH.

I’d shoot for 2-3” above and to the right of the red if I had to. Ideally I’d try to close the gap and hopefully get a better/closer shot

I would shoot exactly (or try) where my PH told me. In hot blood, excited, maybe (probably) a bit peckish, one might find it difficult to refer back mentally to Buff anatomy and the calculus requisite for it's application to angle, vitals, bullet path, etc.
I crawled to within about 60-70 ft from three Dugga boys (accidently...as we were stalking them broadside they turned and fed directly at us). The largest of the three was (luckily) centered and facing directly head-on.
My Ph said:
"Put it on the bottom of his chin and go down six inches..."
I learned many decades ago not to second- guess or guide the guide...that's what you're paying them for.
Best
Spike

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
