New Ruger Hawkeye African 300 Win Mag

Ruger site is now listing 8.0lbs for the African in 375 but it was 7.75lbs last time I was looking into them.

I believe they were 7.5lbs when the model was first released so it looks like Ruger is starting to address the weight concern complaints that some have raised.

The Ruger RSM in 375HH weighed what, 10.5lbs?

That makes sense. Looks like yours has decent lumber on it too! I wish I could see the stock before buying online.

No, there is no such thing as a specific weight with these rifles, the density of the wood can vary quite a bit, but I have owned six of them in calibers 9.3 and up and none of them weighed less than 8 lb.

How did this rifle end up shooting?

Sorry I totally forgot to get back and do an update. The rifle ended up shooting very well. Used the iron sights and the Hornady outfitter ammo to harvest to whitetails does this past fall for freezer filler. I'm hoping to pick up a scope this year and try out some more ammo at longer ranges for elk hunting. I'll be entering the draw in KY starting next year so it'll be ready for it if i get lucky. All in all i think it ended up being just what I was looking for!

Most of the cracking comes from people that don't know to tighten down the action screws.
Or use too heavily weighted lead sleds

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.
