Sometimes you just get lucky.

I have been looking for a 9.3x62 for a while and was about to buy one that was more of a project than I wanted. Thankfully it was sold when I called. Later that night this one showed up on GI and I pounced.

(Side note-Socal Guns in San Diego who listed the rifle was terrific to deal with)

Lots of custom work had been done, including a beautiful walnut stock, Timney trigger, checkered bolt knob--even an Els and Co sling.

I did some googling and found it in an old Guns International listing:

CUSTOM HUSQVARNA 9.3X62 BY KENT BOWERLY

Description:
This mint custom rifle by guild member Kent Bowerly for Chub Eastman Rifle Editor of Sports Afield magazine and came from his estate. This is a factory original Husqvarna barreled action in 9.3X62. The stock is beautifully done in deluxe English Walnut.

I couldn't be happier. It shoots great, action is smooth as butter and feeds beautifully. It'll be heading to the gunsmith in the next few weeks for a model 70 type 3 position safety and to be drilled and tapped. In the meantime, RCBS dies should arrive this week and I can start figuring out loads.

The perfect plains game rifle/back up to the 404 Jeff on my next trip. Before that it'll get some time at the range and in the Vermont next fall for bear.

Beauty rifle and caliber! Congrats

I never thought husqvarna made rifles....Chainsaws and dirt bikes for sure!

Husqvarna has been around since the 17th century, initially making rifles. The company always made quality products regardless of what the heck they made. They stopped making guns in the '80s. I remember them for sale at the sporting goods stores around me. I remember my uncle racing motorcycles in the late 60s and always lost to the Husqvarna.

I was eyeing that one up. I'm glad it found a good home. She's a beautiful rifle and your plan for it sounds perfect.

That is a very unique and beautiful stock. If you are never going on a horseback hunt I would go with the winchester safety, however if going to place gun in a saddle scabbard I would recommend staying with the original safety. Congratulations on a wonderful gun in a great caliber.

It holds 5 in the magazine.

Thanks for the comments folks. I’ve put a few boxes of 285gn PPU through it and love it— A smooth cycling, easy shooting and accurate medium bore. I dropped it off with Matt at MNR for a new safety, drill/tap/bases and a slightly longer pad. I have a Nikon monarch 3 1-4 I think I’ll put on it. It’ll be ready for some bear hunting this fall.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
