Hello and welcome!

Welcome to AH

Greetings Jax,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Looks like you already have a plan to hunt in South Africa.
Cape Town is an international spot everyone should visit.
No doubt you will have a great time there.

When you get around to it, let us know a bit about yourself, what continent you live on, what rifles if any do you favor, etc., etc.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

For sure. I’m in the southern United States. Mostly hunting deer and hogs occasional bear. I have a decent collection of calibers but 45-70 Henry lever gun is what I like to hunt with. But since joining this forum all I can think about and have been reading about is a 375 ruger. I have been messaging with some great people on here about hunting and really appreciate it.

Since you are familiar with the taking of hoofed game in N. America, then Africa will be a huge amount of satisfaction for you.
The .45-70 has been used with success in Africa however, it is not the most popular .45 bore rifle over there.
It is however quite popular here in Alaska where I live.
I have used it and the .444 Marlin, (among various other calibers in lever action rifles), for hunting blacktail deer.

On that note, the Henry Firearms Company seems to be taking the industry by storm.
I love Capitalism and so, I do hope they continue to flourish.

The .375 Magnum:
Although I prefer the original, well over 100 year old H&H version (I’ve lost count of the critters I’ve shot with it on 2 continents), there are a lot of members here who favor the Ruger version.
Reportedly, it clobbers animals just as well as the original H&H version does so, I figure you will enjoy success with the Ruger version, no problem.

Below are a few of the many animals, I have been blessed to have bagged, by means of a bolt action .375 caliber rifle.
