New Visa requirements for Namibia

Is the actual Visa cost $90 or the cost the travel agent charged to complete?

I remember handing the nice uniformed gentleman the crispy $20 at Vic Falls airport for my "entrance Visa". He opened a drawer and scooped it in with the what looked like 100s of other $20's. Did get the stamp and that's what mattered.

Seams more of a prominent money making plan for all Govs now.

The approximately $90 is the cost of the visa. If you have your travel agent complete it for you, they’ll charge a fee as well.

It is a money grab, job creation, and power play. I am not remembering ever paying $90 for a visa in all my travels but I could be forgetting one.
Imagine a third world country thinking they deserve visa reciprocity with the USA!
I can't remember where I went, I think it was Qutar for work. Had to pay $100 to enter, because that is what Quatari were charged to enter the USA.

In my opinion, it wasn’t meant to solve a problem. First and foremost, it’s an attempt to get back at the US and the UK for requiring their people to get a visa when they visit our countries. A bit of tit for tat. The little bit of money they’re gonna make at $90 a pop certainly isn’t worth the effort. Never underestimate the power of populism. The term reciprocity is getting thrown around a lot lately!
Agree fully, as others state Canada gets a higher Visa in Zim, only because our Gov has decided that they are somehow bad, our enemy and deserve bad treatment. And Canada has some stupid gun rules against Zim.

We have morons in charge.

Sad days.

The bureaucracy necessary to implement this will more than eat up all profits in ANY African nation. And it certainly won't increase the number of tourists. .......FWB
Well maybe. Labor is pretty cheap in Africa.

The cost to my credit card (direct from the Ministry) was 88.92USD (it showed this was converted from Namib currency, with the amount being charged as N1648.00).
Hope that helps
Thank you! The rest of us will buy a couple more gumballs. L O L Now, what about that travel insurance comment??? $$$ "It's getting to be a lot like DEMOCRAT$!" LOL That griz hunt in AK/BC is looking so much better... ;) Go have a talk with your undereducated bureaucrats!

@BryceM Labor IS cheap. But corruption is expensive in Africa.............FWB

You can hunt grizz in BC? Our Democratic NDP closed it long ago due to "public opinion". Then the Provincial idiots voted them back in last year.

What BS.

reminds me of a man who owned a small store in a decent area and made a good living there, well he got a little greedy and raised his prices. figuring to make alot more money and he did make more money on the items he sold, but his customer base went into the tank as he sold alot less than before the raise and realy lost money in the long run. it took him several years to make up the losses due to his raises.

the fact that we were eating AK smoked salmon sandwiches on the road (and the fact that my son shipped all of his guns home to avoid any snafus) didn't help much i suppose. i believe there is a legal means for US citizens to carry while traveling in W. CN. (paperwork in advance of trip.)

Yes we do have thousands of G-Bears, no conservation issue, greenie with dumb feelings and a Gov who will do anything for max votes.

Our G-Bears have really become more prevalent since the closure, for fist time in our history we have breeding populations on Vancouver Island. I shot my latest/last one Oct 26 2017, hunting for then closed 1 Nov 2017. For many years it was well managed with our LEH draws.

I would say your first pic of the brown bear is actually a black bear color phase brown. Second is a grizz.

Sorry OP, now back to Namibia and Visas.

It’s mostly reciprocity for things the US and Europe impose on visitors from Africa…… and a money grab.
You got it . Exactly, nail on the head, bullseye.
