A lot of ya'll are sayin' "redneck" like its a bad thing........................
As for the state of hunting/fishing shows on T.V. nowadays, I must say that I find most of them a disappointment & they encourage a new group of hunters to try things (such as long range shooting) that most of us who've been doing it for quite a while unconscionable!
I remember watching the ONLY hunting show back in the 60/70's with my grandpa on PBS (public television).......and I must say, I do miss that. Not everyone got a deer, not all the fish were "monsters", and nobody limited out every time they went out. The shows centered more around "how-to" episodes and the cameradary of family & friends enjoying outdoor pursuits.
Now, I am forced to listen to a bunch of heavy metal music montages while watching a pile of ducks fall out of the sky, with a bunch of grinning buffoons standing over a pile of birds at the end of the show.....the message (subliminal as it may be) is that if you ain't killin' a ton of birds, you ain't a 'real' hunter......or if you ain't killin' a 12 point boone & crockett buck every time you go out, you ain't a real "hunter".
If you look closely, however, you will find that most hunting/fishing shows fall into the category of "reality" TV, which as most of us know, ain't real at all........IIRC, there was one individual who was hunting on a licensed shooting preserve (no wonder he took a big buck every time he went out), and another TV "sportsman" was caught hunting waterfowl over a baited field.
Guess I rather spend the time perusing websites such as this, or reading a book, or spend it at the reloading bench.......even reruns of "Starsky & Hutch" are better than what is being forced on the American public in the name of "entertainment".
