Not quite a trophy room, but a damn fine wall!

Wow looks great, great Kudu do you have any measurement. Great idea to just have them sent. I am sitting at seven months and I am not having any shoulder mounts done. Great start of a great man cave:)

Congrats on a great wall and some nice trophies. Thanks for posting.

The wide one on the left was 48" and the one on the right was 51" with total SCI score of 121.

I wasn't going to do any shoulder mounts ... until my daughter saw the ones in the lodge and she insisted. Although, to be fair, I did not put up much of a fight.

Congrats! Now you have physical trophies to go with the memories! Just a suggestion - write down your memories into a journal, etc. So that they are not lost years later. Looks great. Thanks for sharing.

Heck of a start on the spiral horns Scott! Looks great.

You are a weak man... I like it. :)

Good for you ,you are off to a great start. Forrest

Looks quite nice. Always nice to have them on the wall where you can see them and remember africa........ Bruce

Congrats! You're off to a great start! LOL! It's definitely addicting. I have my first seven up. Two more on the way (plus my zebra skin). And going back for more next year. :)

I'm still waiting on export permits from Gauteng SA. The pictures I receive from Savuti Taxidermy showed some definitely black horns. I, too, had discussed with Cliff about wanting the natural color. I really liked the color on the animals when they were on the ground. When questioning why they were black, I was told it was only from the mineral oil rubbed on to help preservation. We'll see whenever they get home. What is your cleaning process?

I'm not going to have much of "a wall" because I've only got 3 heads and 3 back skins coming, but mostly because I'm putting the red hartebeest upstairs and the blue and black gnus down in the man cave.

I also have a plan to get a bear rug and skull, but not until next year. That first hunting trip most certainly was a gateway drug. I'm not afraid to admit I'm and addict! After the black bear I'm saving to get a red stag from New Zealand. I'll just have to buy a different house with ceilings tall enough for the monster stag I'm dreaming of!

Sorry I missed your question ... I was looking back on the post to see if I had a picture of the before and after of the cleaning process and just now saw it!

Following the advice of others ... can't recall who ... I started with Dawn dishwashing soap and a stiff plastic brush. I quickly graduated to the wire brush as there isn't anything you are going to do to harm the horns ... I just wanted to test it first!

It was easy on the nyala and both kudu as the horns had been removed for shipping. The bushbuck still has his black daggers as it would be too difficult to do the horns without removing them or getting the cape wet ... or worse ... stained with the oil.

Your trophy wall looks great. I too am going to have to put my trophies on a wall. Out of curiosity, how tall is the ceiling?

Looks great - now sit back, have a whiskey and relive all the moments. Thats what its all about!

blaauwkrantz was our first safari in 2002,my wife and i took 8 trophies,a total first class operation.the rudmans are first class people.you did good.

Very nice. And a perfect presentation on that wall. Now maybe lift that Nyala a tad and center a large John Seerey-Lester print in the middle. Or maybe a Masai shield and a couple of lion spears! Seriously, looks great and congrats on four wonderful trophies.

Good job, my first African trophies, (shoulder mounts), are waiting clearance from Brisbane airport, very exciting times, will post the results.
Cheers,
Markvm

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
