After ALOT of back and forth with several stock makers I’m about in the same position I started. Several stock makers say yes we have an exact copy of a Pre War Rigby, Mauser sporter etc. then they send a picture of what looks like a Model 70 with a round grip lol. I think they believe what they have is an old school stock but are delusional.
I have a Model 54 from 1925 that is closer than anything I’ve found. Stock pitch made for iron sights ,overall thin profile, no cheek piece no recoil pad slight curve in buttplate. Shorten the forend and round the grip like the Rigbys or leave it as is to be closer to the Westley Richards.
I have one more guy that is supposed to have the pattern if not I think I will have the M54 duplicated on a cheap blank adjust it as needed then duplicate the pattern on a nice blank.
If I go that route I’ll probably just loan out the pattern myself to anybody that wants it. This whole thing has been a exercise in futility lol.
Finding a old school stock shouldn’t require chicken blood and panther piss lol.
