I happen to own Osa Johnson's 9.3x62 rifle.

Super cool rifle and I am a Martin and OSA Johnson fan however they were hypocritical when it came to hunting, they wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a provoked animal into charging for the “cinema” but bashed big game hunters. She also trophy hunted as well although made it clear it was in “self defence”

Anyway they were cool people, I found their old home once in Nairobi and also have visited their museum and graves in Kansas

Bob!!!! Man it’s great see you posting!! I remember all your 9.3 posts elsewhere…

Your rifle and our offline convos on the 9.3 inspired me to have one made up - with a Model A profile barrel no less. OSA’s rifle is such a great one - especially with the Charles Heyer connection.

Welcome and great to see you here!

A few photos from my visit to the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum in Chanute, Kansas back in 2008.

The ride from Houston, Texas to Chanute, Kansas. 1979 Piper Seminole PA-44-180 (N2094C). I'm not a pilot. A pilot friend flew us to Chanute so we could visit the museum. It was a nice weekend trip.

I hunted in Northern Zambia where The Africa House is at the Lake of the Royal Crocadiles, the Johnsons had engine troubles and had to land on the lake, the family had lots of pics that day while they were fixing their plane and even had a first edition book of the Johnson’s with a long handwritten thank you on the inside cover, i have most of their books and in one of the books they wrote of the day having to land there, i think it was I Married Adventure. Cool stuff, i saw your stuff posted elsewhere a few years ago, also inspired me to finally get a 9.3x62.

It's not a very exciting story. Years ago, I read a post, in a thread on another forum site, that the rifle was for sale. I looked at the seller's online listing for the rifle. I then called him and purchased it. (Several of the other members on that forum vouched for the seller's reputation so I took a chance. It all worked out great, thankfully.)

Strangely enough, it was only about a month after I had visited the Safari Museum in Kansas. I guess it was just meant to be. The rifle came with a letter from the auction house when the rifle was sold back in 1953. The letter identifies the rifle by make, type, and serial number.

Cheers! Bob F.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
